Question about 2003 Pontiac Grand Am

Sitting at stoplight, stepped on gas, car sputtered and died. Had towed and replaced fuel filter. Has not helped. Can you give me an idea what else it could be?

Before died it sputtered and backfired, gave it throttle it died. Towed to my house and turned it over many times, then it started. I pushed pedal to give it gas and it died.


What's missing ? Spark or fuel ? Just because you replaced the fuel pump and filter does not mean it's getting fuel . Did you check fuel pressure , the electrical circuit ? 89 chevy s10 misfires and sputters when i give it gas, dies when i stop. Sometimes it runs fine, but recently it's just been bad. When i rev the engine it can stabilize the idle, but usually die


check fuel pump pressure- fuel filter --air filter --egr valve if carboned up clean or replace and cat converter feel the exhaust if feels restricted may be clogging up

Sounds like dirt made it's way to the fuel pick up from sitting on an angle. You can try removing the sender through the rear seat to detect a clog and or the fuel filter underneath. Honestly..... have it towed to reputable repair shop or dealer for evaluation.

1997 LR died while driving in traffic.


fuel filter, fuel pump, catylatic converter, air filter, TPS sensor, any of them. You need a computer to hook to it to check codes.

Might be fuel pump, or filter is pluged up, best to chg. filter and then do a fuel pressure test.
