89 GT project car. I had the dash cluster and much of the interior out when I switched out the AOD and put in a 5 speed trans. I checked, cleaned and made sure all connections were tight etc. I checked all bulbs on the back of cluster replacing a couple obvious burnt bulbs. I removed all fuses and installed according to owners manual. I checked voltage on both sides of each fuse. Gas and Temp gages do not work, none of rhe dash lights and the tech does not work. none of these worked before beginning the tranny changeout. i bought this GT a couple months ago and do not have any history on the car. the car in general is not molested, pretty much orginal and generally in nice condition. i am just a bit stumped on this issue. any suggestions would be much appricated.

any companies out there making repairs to these clusters? any idae what they might charge? i have a source for used ones but they can run 400 for a GT cluster. i really paid attention when putting this all back together looking for dirty/ damaged connections etc and was surprised when none of these issues were fixed in the process. thanks for your help in confirming what i was beginning to think about this cluster.

Hi, this may be as a result of a loose or defective connector on the back of the instrument cluster. Check the connectors and grounds to make sure they are in good condition, clean and tight.
You need to remove the instrument panel to do this check.....

It's a pity you just had the car and you don't have a knowledge of it's history. If that be the case (after doing all necessary checks), it's obvious that you have a partially damaged dash cluster panel. And the only way out if you have actually done all you said is to replace the dash cluster panel.....

There should be companies doing repairs on them but i don't know any, beside prices varies depending on companies.
Why don't you try the source you have?

    Take care

Gages on the dash quit working is this a fuse problem

the instrument cluster has a fuse that provides power to it. look for the fuse in the fuse box on the bottom left driver side, just underneath the panel. or below the light switch behind the panel.

My dash lights and gages are not working and my night driving lights are not working either... do i need a new cluster

If you mean the parking lights, they are not affected by the cluster.
The gauges are on one fuse, the dash lights are on another, and the parking lights on a third circuit.
I would check for power at the fuses then headlight switch for the lighting problems. And for voltage at the fuse and the connector on the back of the cluster for the gauges problem.

No spark to plugs, oil pressure light on, engine died

Is your dash cluster working? If not this will cause the problem. The gas gage, temp gage, odometer, and transmission shift indicator will not light up. Give the dash a hard thump above the cluster this may or may not temporarily fix the problem.

Instrument panel

remove instrument cluster, 2-3 bolts under top of cluster bezel to dash, remove lenze , pull cluster to side and unplug - center bulb burned out, replace and reassemble. Gauge, check that harness is fully pluged into temp sending unit usely on intake manifold. most likely bad connection or bad sending unit. unit is much cheeper than getting checked at shop, where they will probly start with changing unit and charging you and then look further if needed.

Temperature gage broke oil pressure gage broke and dash lights broke

Dash lights sounds like you have a fuse or relay bad and that could include your gauges as well. Look under the hood for anything marked "cluster" in the fuse panel. If not there, it should be under the driverside of the dash.
