The directions to fix involve replacing the lifter, and all worn components... Often this is the camshaft, gears, and all lifters...Fairly major surgery for most guys.

What is a lifter and where dose it located when i start it make a lot noise for 30mins and stop then start again

Because the lifter leaks down when the engine is cold and then pumps up later tells me that the lifter is faulty and needs to be replaced. I would recommend using someone who is qualified for the job. This isn't a skill level D job.

2001 Sunfire 2.2L, Car started Noise seems to coming from top of Eng . Lifters is my guess, is there anything that would make similar noise, or that I should be checking, How can I be sure it is lifters?

You make have a bad or sticking lifter, remove the valve cover and have someone tap the key, make sure to disconnect the ignition coil to avoid the engine from starting, as they tap the key you will look for the valve to close, a good way is to watch the one next to it open, when the valve is open then you will know the other is closed as there are two valves per cylinder. with the valve closed grab rocker arm and see if theres a lot of play in the direction it moves if it does then look at rocker and push rod and if those are good then you have a bad lifter. if this engine use an overhead cam then there will be no rocker arms or push rods you will need to look for any worn lobes on cam, a stethiscope would be a good tool. start engine with cover off and listen to each cylinder and pin point noise, this will get a little messy as oil will be splashing out a little but its the best way to locate the noise. poor oil flow would cause this also or a loose timing chain. i would start at the top first and look inside cover. good day.

1999 Caddillac Seville Ticking noise

start with an engine flush chemical that you can buy at any auto parts store. follow the directions. i personally add about another half hour to their instructions. once that is accomplished drain the oil pan and do an oil change with an ac delco filter. the noise you are hearing is your valve lifters. they are hydraulic. if there are contaminants in them, the oil passages get plugged and oil doesnt build up enough pressure to be quiet and truelly effective.

I just changed the oil in 1999 deville i now hear a tapping sound coming from the engine, why?

probably the wrong grade oil and the lash adjuster in a lifter does not like it, get a good flushing additive and follow the instructions, then re change the oil and use semi or fully synthetic of a winter grade.

Motor knocks when first started

It sounds like the lifters are draining down over night. When was the last time you changed the oil? A fresh oil change may do the trick, if not try some hydraulic lifter additive ( you just add to the engine oil)

Sounds like a connecting rod bearing problem. I would have a pro. listen to it.

Lifter making noise

depends, how long between oil changes, how many miles, try and engine flush, sometimes debrise adn sludge will cause a lifter to stick and not move freely causing the tapping noise you hear, if this doesn't fix or quiet the problem it may be to far gone, but if you really love the car get a tear down manual and go to work....put aside a weekend and about 500 dollars it'll be a job
