It's going to be the ignition switch, it's not making contact at normal position, switch is worn, replace it will be, will be fine after replacing switch.

2000 honda cvic will not start but if you push on the it will try to start but will not stay running

Do you notice anything unusual with the dash lights when you turn the key on. All the warning lights should illuminate. If they do not but then come on as you start to rotate the key into the start position than you probably have a bad ignition switch.

If you turn the key to the start position and hold it there (only do this for a few seconds) will the car stay running until you let go of the key? Another clue that the ignition switch may be bad.

if you turn the key to the start position and the vehicle starts slowly let the key rotate back to the run position until the starter disengages. If the vehicle continues to run let go of the key. If the vehicle stalls than the ignition switch is definitely bad.

My car just stop running i tried to restart it and it would not stay started

try the ignition switch.. i am not sure try turning the key and keeping it in the turn over position... if it runs it is the ignition switch probably.. it means it is running of your starter.. you will have to hold the key there tho.. because it wont stay started if you dont hold it in the turn over... it can also mean key and tumbler... do you have gas in it??

i`d say your battery is already dead(not able to hold charge) the car requires the continuous flow of power from the altinator. if the the power dies then your altinator is not supplying it properly. get it checked and replaced if nesesary.

Engine cuts out while running

The problem is your ignition switch. You have to have it changed. If you start your car, dont let the key come completely back, just kind of hold it forward a little; not in the start position but not letting the key completely return to the on position, you will see the car stays running. If you let go of the key and it turns off, your problem is bad and you should not drive it. If it stays on, it still is dangerous to drive, but you should drive it somewhere were it can be replaced.
