Brakes wont realese 87 GMC 1 ton how to check brake proportioning valve

A stuck proportioning valve will only prevent either the front or rear or corner / corner from working, it wont make them stick. More likely its one or more frozen brake caliper/s or a bad rubber brake hose/s or frozen brake cables etc.. Is it only front, rear, or both, one left, one right one side or all 4 ? You're gonna have to get the wheels off the ground even if only one at a time to check them. To determine if it is a bad rubber brake hose Crack open a bleeder screw. If the wheel then spins freely replace the hose. If it is still stuck then it is a stuck / frozen caliper, replace the caliper. In the case of rear drum brakes, you can checck the hose in the same way or if it's stuck cables you can try tugging hard on the cables to free them up some but otherwise you'll probably have to pull them apart and do a complete brake job including wheel cylinders.

My 1996 tercel is stuck in park

HI LOZANO. I AM ALMOST 100% SURE YOUR PROBLEM IS A DEFECTIVE BRAKE LAMP SWITCH. GET SOMEONE TO STAND BEHIND THE CAR WHILE U DEPRESS THE BRAKE. IF NO BRAKE LAMPS PRESENT THAT IS YOUR PROBLEM. ANY LOCAL PART STORE SHOULD HAVE IT FOR 15-30 BUCKS. ITS LOCATED UNDERNEATH THE BRAKE PEDAL

Brake realese cable broke from inside vehicle how do i unlock the emergency brakes

You will need to get underneath the vehicle and loosen the emergency brake adjuster to relieve the tension on the cables. Bear in mind that untill you replace the broken cable and readjust the emergency brake, you will have no emergency brakes.

Hi , i have a problem with my automatic acura rsx 2002 , my gear shifter won't unlock from park , engine starts fine but when i step on the brake pedal then i also realese the hand break the shifter just...

This may be caused by a bad brake light switch or fuse, have someone check and see if the brake lights are coming on, the shifter release works on the brake switch, this is to make sure you have your foot on the brake before shifting out of park, if the brake lights are not working then thats the problem, start by check all the fuses, if the fuses are good then i would say you have a bad brake light switch, this switch is located on the brake pedal bracket, if you follow the pedal up to the top will will see a switch that the pedal pushes in when its released and allows it to pop out when the pedal is pushed, this switch most of the time is the problem, good day,

HOW DO YOU REMOVE THE REAR BRAKE DRUM ON A 2000 CAVALIER. iHAVE TRIED PRYING IT BUT NOT WITH MUCH FORCE AS NOT TO BREAK IT

Hello sqill1000
First, make sure the Ebrake is completly realesed. Next, try turning the drum back and forth while
pulling on it. If the easy way won't work, there may be a deep ridge in the drum surface.
Now, remove the 2 rubber plugs on the back of the brake backing plate, look into the drum with a
flashlight and locate the brake adjuster star wheel. You'll need a brake spoon and a thin 4" screw driver, if you don't have a brake spoon, another screwdriver will do. In the front of the adj. wheel is
the adjuster bar, it's job is to keep the adj wheel from turning in the direction you're going to turn it.
Use the thin 4" screwdriver to push the bar away from the star wheel and with the other turn the wheel from the bottom up at least 5 or 6 good turns or more then tap arround the drum again to
help the springs retract the shoes and remove the drum. Hope this is helpful.

Press the brake then my rear tires brakes keep locking

it just happenned to me with my ford f-150 1997, turned out to be the rubber hose that was clogged so it couldn't relieve the pressure in the lines....

it should be located on top on the differential if you don't have disc brakes on the back.... but if it is disc brakes you should have a rubber hose on each side....
