Bottom pulley is shaking and belt brokeput new belt on still shaking how do get the pulley off it turns with the bolt.

Hi you need to lock the engine up the best way to do this it to put it into gear and shock the bolt out with a strong sharp turn . puting it into gear will stop the pully turning .

    It will work if it is a stick shift vehicle. But not an automatic. The only other way I ever came up with is to go under the car and remove the cover to the flywheel. Take a Tire tool or big flat head screw driver and use the teeth to lock it up. Have to have someone help you. Then you will have to have a wheel puller to get the pulley off. Im pretty sure it is the harmonic balancer you are talking about?

Dear Maria Mitchell,

Best thing to do here I would advise, would be to service these belts as a matter of urgency. Squealing of any kind is going to physically wear these parts out. Change the belts, and when you do so, check all of the pulleys and sprockets, check all of the bolts are in place and that none of the pulleys or sprockets are bent, distorted or deformed in any way. . In addition, I (being a thorough investigator, and considering all options), would certainly turn the crankshaft over manually and check the level of resistance on this, same for the cam. Oil levels too would be a first indictator of any sign of enginje damage that could cause other symptoms to manifest.

Realistically though, just replace those belts, renew and replace all bolts and as said, check those sprockets and pulleys. Swap out the belt tensioner for a new one, and while about it, seeing as you gone this far, may as well perform a simple fluid check and change, and consider new plugs and leads. This comes under what is called a GENERAL SERVICE. Or better yet, sit in a coffee shop, drinking loads of coffee..... whilist a mechanic deals with it.

Steering wheel shakes when the Aircon unit is on but if the Aircon is off it seems okey. pls advised.

First, check the level of your power steering fluid and top up the level if low. Then adjust your serpentine belts. A loose belt may be causing the the steering wheel. To adjust your alternator belt . First , take off the negative battery cable so you do not blow an expensive fuse on the positive battery cable clamp. Facing the back of the car, reach UNDER the alternator and loosen the bolt on the bottom right side, now loosen the bolt on the adjuster block on top, you can now turn the adjuster bolt and move the alternator to change or adjust the belt.
To take off or adjust the steering pump belt on the front of the motor, you need to loosen the nut on the back side of the adjuster pulley (right side ,belt is on the left) . With the adjuster pulley loose , you can use the adjuster bolt to move the pulley forward and backward to adjust the steering pump belt tension

There are two pulleys that have no ribs on most Voyager engines from at least 91 thru 2003. One, the idler pulley is stationary. The other, The tensioner pulley is mounted to a spring loaded arm and in intended to keep the belt properly tightened. The tensioner pulley is attached to its arm with a 15 mm bolt. The tensioner assembly is rotated toward the front of the vehicle by putting a 15 mm box end wrench on that bolt and turning it clockwise as if you were trying to tighten the bolt. The belt will loosen which will allow the belt to be removed. There is, or should be a belt routing guide mounted under the hood. Use that guide to install the new belt. Here's the trick. With the belt installed on all of the pulleys except the tensioner, position the belt against the pulley as if to slide it on, THEN put the wrench on its bolt, pull forward until the belt slip over the pulley and then let the tensioner rotate counter clockwise until the belt is tight. BE CAREFUL: the grooves in the belt must be in the correct grooves in the pulleys that have grooves. Check them twice from the top and the bottom. Good luck!

First take off the negative battery cable, facing the back of the car reach UNDER the alternator and loosen the bolt on the bottom right side, now loosen the bolt on the adjuster block on top, you can now turn the adjuster bolt and move the alternator to change the belt. If you need to change the steering pump belt on the front of the motor, you need to loosen the nut on the back side of the pulley it holds the adjuster pulley in place . Then you can use the adjuster belt to move the pulley to adjust the belt.

Where do i start how to install timing belt on a 2000 2.4 hyundai sonata

First remove all. Power-steering pump 3 bolts on cylinder head. Loosen the alternator. remove the two belts. Underneath the car. remove black wheel arch plastic cover (6 or 7screws) Loosen the air con pump tension-er pully. Remove belt. put a trolley jack under engine as the mounting needs to be removed and lift the engine slightly. Remove the engine mounting bolts next to the black cam belt cover and remove the mounting. Loosen the Main crank shaft pulley. Normally very tight put a power bar and socket on. engine turns forward so let the bar rest on X member and turn the key only so that the engine turns. do not start. Remove cam belt covers (comes in to parts - top and bottom) then loosen the tension pulley which is on the left. 1 x bolt in middle. remove cam belt. now the tricky part. Replace the bottom crack pulley. turn so that the marks are lining up. the cam pulley has got a small hole in turn the hole upward to the top of engine. there is a small dot on the cylinder head which can be seen through the hoe. line up. replace idle pulley on the right. replace tension pulley on the left. put new belt on and now to tension the belt. take a number 5 or 6 allen key and turn the tension er clock wise until its like a watch at 10 min to the hour. tighten the bolt. test belt with fingers. if belt to loose you will feel the belt move easily. belt must not be to hard when pressed. try to turn the belt with fingers half a turn if going passed the halfway mark tighten some more. Use power bar and ensure engine turns properly meaning two or three full turns with hands without it getting stuck. otherwise the valve and piston is toughing. if so do crank turn of 180 degrease. free turn again. should be right. replace all that was taken off. start car. if belt tension is to tight you will hear a signing sound.

did you remove the belt before you tried to loosen the bolt? when you say main pulley, do you mean the pulley on the tensioner? by tensioner belt bolt do you mean the bolt secureing the pulley to the tensioner arm?

I have a 99 mitsubishi diamante and i broke the power steering belt how do i put it back on

Looking at the front of the engine you should see, from left to right, the PS pump, a tensioner pulley, and the crank pulley.

Loosen the 14mm fixing bolt and the 14mm fixing nut on the tensioner pulley.
On the bottom there is a 14mm adjuster bolt, loosen it to slide the pulley downward. It helps to have a swivel socket to access this bolt.
The belt goes around the outside of all 3 pulleys.

The alternator belt will need to be loosened to get the PS belt on behind it.
Between the Crankshaft pulley and the ac compressor pulley you will see another adjuster. Simply loosen the 14mm nut on the center of the pulley, then loosen the 14mm adjuster bolt sticking out the bottom to slacken the belt enough to slip it off.

Use the same adjusters to tension the belts once installed, and tighten down all fixing nuts/fixing bolts.

Be advised: If you broke your PS belt, you should verify your pump and tensioner pulley are in good shape and spin freely, and were not the cause of belt failure before putting on a new belt!

How do I tighten the power steering belt on my 2002 xl-7?

1)To adjust P/S belt tension, loosen tension pulley bolts and turn tension pulley using hexagon wrench. 2)Adjust belt tension to specification described in CHECK. Then tighten tension pulley bolts to specified torque.
