On the Owner's Manual there's a procedure you have to follow to bleed the air in the cooling system, until you bleed the system for air, the low coolant light will come on every time.

The process is rather simple and quick, all you need is a flat head screw driver.

DO NOT OPEN THE COOLING SYSTEM WHEN HOT.

Good Luck!! Don't forget to rate this post!!

I own a 01,4.0L olds Aurora, replaced the low coolant tank, but the low coolant message EXP 15 is still pops up every time i start, how do i reset?

Either the low sensor in the tank is stuck, you have not connected the sensor wire properly or you bought the wrong tank.

I replaced the water pump ,rediator, themosat,on my 2002 oldsmobile aurora and it is still saying low engine coolant and is still overheating

first there is a low coolant sensor in the over flow bottle, and the other is that you have a common GM motor problem. all GM cars and trucks have a intake manifold gasket leak1_29_2013_6_16_48_pm.jpg1_29_2013_6_17_48_pm.jpg

A/c not changing to heat

The engine is overheating! Check the coolant level to be sure it is full. Other checks will then be to make sure the water pump is working. With the engine overheating, you are not getting coolant moving through the engine, or your heater core for that matter. If the coolant level is good, I would go to the water pump/thermostat next.

I have 2001 alero. Yesterday the coolant light came on and the engine just died. Any ideas maybe fuel pump or timing belt or could it be the water pump

IF LOW COOLANT LIGHT CAME ON ENGINE SHUT OFF BECAUSE IT GOT TOO HOT AND OVER HEATED.WHEN YOU HAVE LOW COOLANT.YOU COULD HAVE LEAKING RADIATOR.YOU COULD HAVE LEAKING RADIATOR HOSES AND WATER PUMP. ADD MORE COOLANT IN CAR RADIATOR UNTIL YOU AT FULL COLD MARK ON THE OVER FLOW COOLANT TANK START THE CAR LET IDLE UNTIL ENGINE GET OPERATING TEMPERATURE.RAISE YOUR HOOD LOOK FOR LEAKS THE RADIATOR PRESSURE WILL PUSH COOLANT OUT WHERE LEAKS COULD BE.LOOK AROUND RADIATOR AND COOLANT HOSES.LOOK AT WATER PUMP.IF YOU SEE COOLANT LEAKING AT WATER PUMP REPLACE IT.

I have a 2001 Aurora - The DIC says Low engine coolant; and also says check gas cap. Have added coolant and checked gas cap always - still getting the messages. Also when starting the car, the DIC goes...

Make sure the coolant is not leaking. If it's not, then clear the codes with a scanner. Spray some wd40 on the gas pedal cable assembely under the hood.

If the water pump goes out , would the radiator warning light come on?

If it has a coolant level sensor in the radiator yes it will, due to low on coolant due to water leaking from water pump, coolant will leak from water pump if bad, unless it just has bad water pump bearing's, then some time's it will not leak and just make a noise.

Red light is going on that describes a temperature issue. The warning goes off at times and then comes back. There is no leak spots, and the coolant is not going in the oil. The coolant gets low at a rapid...

Sounds like a blown water pump. These leak very quickly when they go and would definitely cause the issues you are experiencing. It would not be recommended to drive the vehicle until it is replaced.

Every time I get in my car it says low engine coolant,so I add a little coolant, about 1 quart. Where is it going?

could be a slow leak on the engine that dries before it hits the ground or blows off while driving, so you would never see it. get a flashlight and look all around the water pump area, intake, radiator, to see if you see any dried (should be orange) crystallized traces of seepage

WE NEED TO REPLACE THE WATER PUMP ON OUR 1998 OLDS AURORA 4.OL what do we need special and how do we do it

  • When replacing a water pump, it is necessary to drain the cooling system.
  • Any components--belts, fan, fan shroud, shaft spacers, or viscous drive clutch--should be removed to make the pump accessible. Some pumps are attached to the cylinder block as shown below.
f11-60.jpg Installing a water pump. Courtesy of Dana Corporation.
  • Loosen and remove the bolts in a crisscross pattern from the center outward.
  • Insert a rag into the block opening and scrape off any remains of the old gasket.
WARNING When working on the coolant system (for example, replacing the water pump or thermostat), a certain amount of coolant will spill on the floor. The antifreeze in the coolant causes it to be very slippery. Always immediately wipe up any coolant that spills to reduce or eliminate the chance of injury.
  • When replacing a water pump, always follow the procedures recommended by the manufacturer.
  • Most often a coating of good waterproof sealer should be applied to a new gasket before it is placed into position on the water pump.
  • Coat the other side of the gasket with sealer, and position the pump against the engine block until it is properly seated.
  • Install the mounting bolts and tighten them evenly in a staggered sequence to the torque specifications with a torque wrench. Careless tightening could cause the pump housing to crack. Check the pump to make sure it rotates freely.
  • The water pumps on many late-model OHC engines are driven by the engine's timing belt. When replacing the water pump on these engines, always replace the timing belt.
  • Make sure all pulleys and gears are aligned according to specifications when installing the belt.
