Question about 2006 Kia Spectra

1 Answer

My check engine light came on and since then I can barely fill my gas tank without it overflowing. I know that's it's not full. I have to hold the gas nozzle for a few seconds then let go so it won't overflow. I told it some where where they said it might be the evap motor, do I have to take it to a dealership to get this fixed or can I have someone do it? Also, how difficult is it?

Ther is another couple of things to ceck your tank filler line may have a goosneck shaped design if so it may not fill exept at a slow rate call your local dealer they should be able to let you know if this is the case. there is also a vent tube in all gas filler lines that goes back to the cap to prevent overflowing gas onto the ground make sure that this vent tube is not damaged or clogged. as for the check engine light it could be anything check to make sure that all your major fluids are up to they're fill points. if so a lot of times there is a emission check detector (PCV) valve on the side of your exhast manifold that gets clogged. change it. if you take it to a mechanic be sure of they're reputation. some shops say that for $100.00 they will check and correct the check engine problem and guaranty that it will not come back on or they will fix it free. it has been said that some shops only disconnect your check engine light. also since it could be so many things i know a LOT of people that ignore it and they're vehicles run just fine and have done so for years.

How many gallons does the gas tank hold on a 1997 scout 162 boat

Hi James:
I tried to track this down without success.
If it were me and I really needed to know I would fill a spare outboard tank and put it in the boat and then go and play until the boat coughed and ran out of fuel.
-I'd then connect the engine to the spare tank and continue to play or go home depending on how far away I was.
- Once at a fueling station, I'd fill the tank, and record the amount of fuel needed.
- It can also be a good idea to check the actual amount of fuel consumed (determined by how many gallons to fill the tank) against hours running at different speeds, and also the gas gauge indication when on the step and at idle.
- My personal rule????? never trust the gas gauge, and always start with a full tank.

I have a 2011 ram 1500 slt with the 4.7 ltr v8 engine. i have to hold the pump handle barely on to fill up my tank

I do this with my Ford van also. checked the hoses. Found if I barely put the nozzle in the gas fill and pump, it takes it at full pressure. If I shove it all the way in, It keeps cutting off/ spitting out..

Gas tank will not fill up

The only thing in the way of a valve is the little flap that is about 3 inches or so inside the place where the lid screws on. Perhaps you could take a really strong flashlight and look and see if there is something blocking the pipe. Also, take a gas can for a lawn mower and put a small hose on the neck and try to feed a small hose down inside the tank and see if it will take gas that way. Watch out, though that the hose does not get caught by that afore-mentioned flap! You might take a long thin screwdriver or a heavy wire and see if you could hold that flap open.
Be blessed.

My 2000 blazer will not allow me to pump gas into the tank without just barely easing it in or it kicks the gas pump off or over flows,as if the tank is full. It takes forever to put gas in the tank.any...

how long has the check engine light been on?

The vent solenoid is likely stuck closed. If you look under the vehicle you will find the charcoal canister back by the gas tank. There will be a large rubber/plastic hose coming out of the canister. On the other end will be the vent solenoid. Should be up under the spare tire area.

Disconnect the hose from the vent solenoid and then try to fill the gas tank. If there are no problems filling with the hose disconnected replace the vent solenoid.

Changed waterpump thermostat and i have bleed the cooling system still burps from water fill tank and has good compression on cylinders

if you have the v6 in your alero, its a beast to get them bled all the way, its the same way with a pontiac grandam, but i can tell you i have saw many of the overflow tank caps go bad, is yours one that fills the radiator through the overflow, if it is that could be your problem, change the cap, it will most likely take care of your problem, also crack the bleed valve on the tube that runs just above the water pump across the front valve cover, and leave it bleed overnite... just barely crack it so you can see air bubbles come out.. hope this helps

I have a gas leak at the tank. When I fill to full, gas leaks out

you might try looking to see if the filler tube is cracked and leaking if it is you could replace it and that will take care of the check engine lite depending on what code is being set

Gas tank?

It sounds odd that both cars are experiencing the same problem. This usually indicates a problem with the gas tank not venting properly.

Gas tank?

You are experiencing fuel tank venting problems. Air needs to excape when filling. The normal system in the tank for releasing air is being blocked. A repair shop will probably have to drop the tank out of the car to check the vent system.

Check Engine Service light on

Without knowing anymore about your driving habits or how long it's been since a fill up, the first thing that comes to mind would be the gas cap. It sounds like you (or whomever filled you up) may not have locked the gas cap properly. This will cause a difference in pressure and will essentially throw a code.
