Hi Friend:

Location of Thermastat

#1) Open Hood Right in the Front you'll see your Radiator-And your top Raditor hose,Take your Hand and just follow that hose down to where it is Connected at your Engine.

#2) Now before you start taking off anything,You'll need to Drain your Cooling system .So the Best way is to Remove your LOWER Hose from the Bottom of your Radiator, with a Large Drain Pan that will Hold at Least a GALLON.

#3) Or you can look down towards the bottom of the Radiator and Locate the Drain Plug.

#3) Right where its connected at your engine you'll see a Hose Clamp,Its holding the Hose on to Your Thermastat Housing its a Dome Shaped Housing with 2-3 Bolts holding it on the Enging.

#4) 1st Loosen off the Clamp and Remove the upper hose JUST at the Engine.

#5) Remove the Bolts holding it to your enginge.Use a Socket and Ratchet or a Wrench that is the Right Size.

#6) After the Bolts are out you can remove the thermastat Housing,Underneath THAT Housing you'll see your Thermastat.

#7) Make sure you clean off the Sufaces of Both the Engine and the thermastat housing's Old Gasket Material.

#8) You'll get a New Gasket with your new thermastat,Also Pick you up some Gasket Sealer to apply to Both the Thermastat housing and the Engine surface to make sure theres no Leaks.

To install the New Thermastat JUST REVERSE the Removal Directions Above.

And refill it with Coolant and after you've gotten everything Back together , Start Enginge and Look for any Leaks.

This will get your thermastat changed and Back on the Road.

Thank You for using FixYa Please let me know how my solution helped me,by Voting on the Quality of help i've given you.

Where the upper radiator hose meets the engine block, at a dome-shaped mount.
The thermostat is under the dome.

Remove the upper radiator hose, engine side.
Remove the domed mount that the hose was on.
Under the dome is a circular framed valve with a short, thick spring: That's the thermostat.

Replace the thermostat and the gasket.
A little Permatex (just a thin bead smeared around the gasket) will add insurance against leaks.

Make sure that that the thermostat is seated in the groove, if so equipped. Not doing so could lead to fracture of the thermostat housing when tightening.

Need to know where the thermostat is located in my 2004 jeep grand cherokee laredo v6 4.0.liter

Thermostat is at the front of the engine on the cylinder head. The upper hose and temp sending unit are attached to it. It has two 13mm bolts holding it to the head. The therm goes in with the spring end pointing into the engine. Take care that it does not slip down while installing as it is mounted vertically. All gasket material must be removed or it will leak.

I need to know the location of the Thermostat on my 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee,

If you have a V8 the thermostat is located under the coolant inlet tube. The tube is located on top of the engine, in the front about center. The thermostat is hard to change. Locate the upper radiator hose on your radiator and follow it to the engine block it is located on the top front part of your engine and you must lean over the front and look down onto the block to see the thermostat housing.

Location of engine thermostats on 2003 ch2500hd turbo diesel

Check this location.
Between the alternator and A/C compressor, on the top. The other thermostat with vent holes goes toward the rear of the engine.
I believe the temp ratings are different for each.
Let engine cool before working on it.
Clean up an spilled radiator fluid. It will destroy pets liver in 24 hours if they drink it.
