White smoke is an indication that coolant is entering the combustion chamber. This is normally caused by a cracked head, blown head gasket, or both. STOP driving the car immediately or the engine will be destroyed. You will need to have the car towed to your mechanic and have a compression test run to verify if indeed you have this problem. Other symptoms are overheating, loss of coolant with no apparent leak, oil level overfull, air bubbles escaping from radiator, and a white foamy substance on the underside of the oil fill cap. This is extremely serious and must be repaired. Hopefully if you did not continue to drive the vehicle after noticing this no serious damage has been done. The head will have to be removed, inspected, and head gasket replaced.

SOURCE: my car has white smoke coming from the tail pipe...

It is burning oil. Possibly bad valve seals or worn rings.

White smoke comes through the exhaust due to leak in turbocharger seal.It can be solved by replacing the turbocharger kit.

I would like to know what makes that the Jeep smoke after rearranging the vacuum lines is it the EVAP system on HBO or the engine vacuum lines vacuum lines

the book is free,
and real
and posted here over 300 times, search much.
all that is covered in the SM. (how to put it back as it was new)

no clues as to what the smoke is.
or where it emits from. (tail pipe end)
white smoke or black
black is rich running.
white can be burning oil and smells like burning oil (lingers)
white can be steam, aka, antifeezes burning, goes the vapors dont linger like oil smoke does and smells sweet, unlike oil smoke.

EVAP is only FUEL vent , fumes. gas fumes.
there are lots of vacuum lines
to engine
evap
brake booster
the engine hood sticker covers the majors, (smog related, )

SM , serv. man. click WK and read.

My Isuzu Trooper was not revving as usual. Now it is emitting a lot of white smoke. So far, injectors have been pulled out and cleaned, emptied the fuel tank, flushed all fuel pumps and changed fuel filter...

Check the radiator fluid level. If the smoke is not present when it is first started, and after a short time later it begins to smoke, it may be a blown head gasket that is letting radiator water into the combustion chamber. The symptom of, "not revving as usual", would be an inconsistent engine speed at idle. If the fluid level is going down in the radiator, and you don't see fluid on the ground, with the exception of a small drip out the tail pipe when the engine first starts, a small amount of water in the combustion chamber will cause a lot of white smoke. It can be normal for a small amount of water to drip from the tail pipe, depending on humidity, but once the engine is warmed up, the, "white smoke", should not have moisture in it. A paper towel held at the tail pipe for a few seconds should not get wet after the engine is warmed up, and the radiator fluid level should not decrease if no fluid is leaking on the ground.

Are you saying you have smoke coming out of the tail pipe ? Or is something dripping onto the exhaust pipe and burning ?
If the smoke is coming out of the tail pipe, is it blue, white, or black ?

White smoke coming out tail pipe and useing oil on a 2002 7.3

Hello and welcome to FixYa!

If it's only on cold start ups, then it's ok. You should be glad for it's a sign of engine in top condition. If the white smoke doesn't stop even when running then you may have a worn out piston rings which will surely require replacement to resolve the problem.

It surely is burning oil that's why it emits white smoke.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

It means that an engine with worn piston rings and/or bad valve seals are allowing excessive oil to enter the chamber.
