How can i tell if frount and back pully's are bad

Take belt off, and spin all pulleys by hand to make sure they are running free first, then replace belt and tension as required. Just in case you have a pulley seized, causing the squeel.

How to tighten /loosen belts on a 2000 xterra, its making a super loud squeaking noise when i turn on the car

The only cure to fix squeaking belts, is to replace with the new one. When the belts start squeaking noise, then it is the time to check the status of the timing belt or chain, depending on the size of the engine.
The 2000-2004 Nissan Xterra was offered with the choice of 2.4L 4-cylinder or 3.3L V6 engine.
The 2.4-liter 4-cylinder DOHC engine was a pretty good reliable engine, but for this truck, it was underpowered. This engine has a long-lasting timing chain - there is no timing belt to replace.
The 3.3-liter V6 SOHC was also a bit slow on pick-up, but for daily use, it was pretty good, durable, simple engine. This engine has a timing belt that needs to be replaced at recommended intervals. The SE model offered a supercharged version of the same engine with more power.

Hello there There is a chattering noise coming from what sounds like the supercharger while it idles and at low rpm. When I give it more rpms the sound goes away, It is not any of the pullies, I've...

The chattering sounds like some thing loose, like a mounting bracket. or the shafts end play is excessive, there can be bearing failure at high mileage in the supercharger, The bearings are lubed by the engine oil while running check for oil leaks in the line to the supercharger.

Belt routing on my Olds 98 LSS. It looks like I

on the v6- 3.1 yes you do. here is how to change it yourself, first of all, release tension on the belt tensioner. remove belt from pulleys, place a floor jack under engine on motor mount side to take off. put a piece of wood on jack to protect engine. jackup to engine with very slight pressure to hold it while removing mount. take off mount, remove old belt, put new belt on. the tensioner can be moved with a 3/8 drive in tensioner hole. after belt is on replace mount. then lower jack down. thats it!!

I am looking for the belt pattern for a 94 olds 98, with the 3.8 supercharged in it

Apparently there were two designs in 1994 for the supercharged Olds 98. Here are both diagrams...

How to tighten my 306 dt 98 fan belt

you need to take off the drivers front wheel and plastic cover infront of the engine.
then you need to crack off two allen key type bolts holding the braket and tensioner pully in place, that is positioned just right of the crankshaft pully. Once the whole unit is slack you have to loosen the adjuster that is visible underneath the tensioner braket to take the tension off the belt. Once the belt is loose enough take it off and reverse process avoiding overtightening new belt. [It needs a little give to avoid damging bearings in the pully]

Im trying to replace my serpentine belt on my 98 ford escort ZX2,How do I do this, any diagrams available and which pully is the tention one

There will be a tensionor pully, that is a pulley that is connected to an arm that is spring loaded in order to produce tension on your belt. By releasing tension on this pully, you can remove the belt. The pulley will have a way to do this using hand tools. Most have either a bolt head you can grip with a pry bar and the appropriate size socket, some have a square hole where the socket - drive pry bar will fit directly, but the age old plain pry bar can be used by itself to release the tension. This should be done with two people if possible, one to release the tension while the other removes the belt...

98 ford contour 2.5- a loud roar from front drivers side of car

This sounding like an Idler bearing problem, Sounds like the idler bearing that supports your belt is either loose or needs replading. I say this because when you get the RPMs up on the motor the noise should almost disappear?

Car is making loud noise & wont idle

your timing marks must be off for the car not to idle. the timing belt is too tight, that is where the noise is coming from. rule of thumb is you should be able to twist the timing belt to just under 90 degrees on the longest section after the tensioner has tensioned and nut on pully it tightened. tensioners usually tension more than they need to.
