Question about 2003 Honda Odyssey

1 Answer

My 2003 Honda Odyssey's Cruise Control only works after I start the care up and will disengage after so many minutes. Will not re-engage until after I have re-started the car. I replaced the brake switch. No change. The Cruise Light on the button will not light up. What is my next step in troubleshooting this issue?

Check the fuse and relay for the cruise control. Use a multi-tester and test the wiring harness of the cruise control system to see if there is power going to the cruise control unit. You may also use a vacuum tester and test the cruise control to see if it is holding pressure.

Per the Honda Service Manual, the Bulb completes the continuity of the Cruise control main switch. If the light is out, the system is not getting power. You need to change the bulb... The illumination bulbs are hard to find. The dealer is the only place I have found them. They are about $5 a piece.

Honda Odyssey 2003 cruise control will not come on. Could it be a fuse or? I push the selector to set the cruise to on and nothing happens. Any ideas what is wrong?

is the check engine light on, key on, and out driving?
if not the newer honda;s cut CRUISE, for many failures.
they dont want to be like Toyota, and car drives it self, LOL.
no kidding.!!!
so today cruise is LAST. to work.
if the ECU is in limphome , cruise is cut.
so connect a scan tool and scan for DTCs.

i cant guess country , nobody ever post this. but up in canada
the the PCM is differernt and the CEL may not glow for some very bad errors, (misfire is one) so scan it, and win.
if no DTC then its a real cruise failure.

Cruise control stopped working at about 70k. Enable light at switch comes on, but will not set a cruise speed (dash light will not turn on). I've not begun to inspect, but have read many problems about...

Check for a broken plastic piece under the hood on the throttle control. Top, Back right of the engine. Probably will see the cruse control cable sitting there disconnected.

Cruise control how to use

Most cruise controls are designed to disengage when you press the brake pedal. I always mention this first because people tend to try to press the clutch pedal while the cruise control is engaged and this startles them when the engine revs up all the way...

Anyway, to use your cruise control:

1) Press the Cruise control button to on.
2) Drive up to the speed you need to go.
3) Press the "Set/Coast" button.
4) let go of the accelerator pedal

If the cruise control system is operating correctly, your vehicle will continue to travel at the same speed until you either press the brake pedal or you cancel the cruise setting with the cancel button of the cruise control.

Remember: Your civic is not equiped with a radar system for your cruise control, so if you are aproaching an intersection or traffic in front of you, do not expect the car to know it needs to stop. Also, cruise control only operates the accelerator pedal i your car, it is not autopilot, so it will not steer your car for you.

(you think it sounds silly that I am writing this? You should see my friend's car... He thought Cruise control was like autopilot, so he smashed his brand new civic into a tree...)

Happy Motoring!
