Ask someone to pull up the hood when you pull the lever, may work...otherwise getting to the hood catch is a *****.

I have a 2001 Isuzu Rodeo the hood will not open. I had someone pull the latch while I hit the top of the hood to pop, nothing. I have also had someone pull the latch while I pull up on the hood and...

Don't pull up on the front, but press down hard, while someone pulls on the handle.

Try whacking it some more there, too, while latch is being pulled. Another place to hit is at rear of hood on driver's side.
If it still won't open, you may have to get your hand on the hood latch to move the lever that the handle cable attaches to. The lever would have to move towards the driver's side to pop the latch. Sometimes a long screwdriver poked up from underneath may reach the latch. Or you may be able to get your hand in past the grill, or remove the grill to get your hand to the latch.
When you do get it open, put a few drops of oil on the latch mechanism, and see if any adjustments can be made to open it easier either on the hood itself, or the latch mechanism. Just about all cars have a way to adjust the latch.
Good luck.

I have a 1996 Audi A4 Quattro, and the release lever in the cab will not unlock the hood. ive tried pulling te secondary release lever in the grille of the car and nothing happens. any idea of how I might...

Under the car:
You will be able to open the hood if you pull off your splash guard and use a long long flat head screwdriver or something like that. You'll see the hood latch in front of the radiator with the cable attached to it at the top near the hood, put it on the drivers side edge of the bottom of the latch and pry to the passenger side, the lever moves from the drivers side to the passengers side, the cable basically pulls the top of it to achieve this. so your doing the same thing on the bottom with the screwdriver.

Release the latch from underneath by the lever that you have to pry towards the passenger side. Then open the hood, and replace the safety release mechanism broken cable.

How do i open the hood.

there should be a lever that is on the bottom edge of dash that is under the steering wheel along the trim. if the handle is broken you can use pliers to grab the cable and pull it to get the hood to realse. if you found all that and i seems to work ok then when pulling the release lever have a friend hit or shake the hood to get it to pop up a little so that you can open it all the way.

Release the latch from underneath by the lever that you have to pry towards the passenger side. Then open the hood, and repair or replace the safety release mechanism. This is very simple to remove out from the hood.

Where is the hood release lever in the subaru wrx (inside the car)I have looked at left side and see trunk and gas door release but not hood

The hood release is on the lower left edge of the dash, if your sitting in the drivers seat, lean down and feel the lower left edge of the dash with your left hand. You'll feel a small square plastic flap and pull straight back on it. You should then hear the hood release pop free.

Hood release cable is broken/disconnected.

get a pair of pliers and pull the grill release out. if that doesnt work you can pull the lower middle grill out and reach your hand up thru and release the lever with your hand. you might need to take your plate and plate mount off but after you get those off just give it a good hard tug and it will pop right out. (its clipped on with no screws or bolts) this was happening to mine now the main release won't open so get it fixed asap. you dont want this to happen to yours, trust me!

1985 corvette, pulled the hood release and the diverside opened but not the passengers side so now i can't open the hood, how do i release the passenger side that is stuck

have someone push down on that part of the hood while you pull the release. Usually that frees it and it should be adjusted up so it will open again

The hood release on my 1993 chevy lumina snapped. the lever seems to have snapped from inside the car since it isnt attatced anymore. how much will this cost to fix at a shop?

YOU CAN FIX IT EASILY AT HOME IF IT IS JUST THE HANDLE. THE CABLE WOULD REQUIRE ABOUT 1-1.5 HOURS LABOR TO REPLACE SO DONT PAY MORE THAN THAT.

Hood cable

Where there is lever to unlock the hood mounting to car, must be seen the cable, properly should be attached to the lever. Take it use of pliers and pull the cable to out of his direction and it is triggered! damaged parts must be bought and replaced.
