Question about 1992 Daihatsu Rocky

Open Question

My 89 2.8 Turbo Rocky injector pump has started leaking fuel badly, nearly running, and I cant find the leak. It appears to be dripping in about 4 places however it is impossible to just start leaking everywhere and I am thinking it has a major leak on top somewhere however I can not see its source anywhere. Any help would be appreciated.

SOURCE: Daihatsu Rocky will not start.

Take the fuel line off the tank side of primer and connect a plastic jar full of diesel there and see if it starts. If not disconnect fuel line from primer side of fuel pump and see if fuel gets through to injectors. If not problem is in pump. If you have fuel and still wont start it will likely be glow plugs. You can short them out with a wire from positive battery terminal to plate joining all glow plugs. (make sure you disconnect it after 30 seconds or so or they will burn out) The engine will probably not start at all if the glow plugs dont work. (all this advice is from experience)

Fuel pressure may drop due to a leaking injector or bad check valve in the fuel pump itself. The regulator does not come into effect until the engine is running and a vacuum supply is produced to it. If the regulator is leaking internally, it could send fuel back to the tank as well. Prime the fuel line and pinch off the return line ( if possible ) to eliminate a regulator problem. If the fuel pressure drops with the return line pinched off, suspect a leaking injector or fuel pump. If injector is leaking, the vehicle should run rich and cause a hard start/rough run condition

Injector sprays too much fuel after starting. Engine floods out


Suspect (potentially) either a stuck injector, or a failed/failing fuel pressure regulator. One sign of a failed fuel pressure regulator can be gas in the oil. (I suffered that side effect, along with bogging, and black smoke rich running, worsening as warmed up, turned out to be fuel pressure regulator). If the injector is loose in the throttle body, or has bad o-rings, can also cause some wonky behavior. Good luck.

On a 2004 Jeep Wrangler 4.0 it take about 30 sec to start I put a fuel gauge and it takes a while for the fuel to reach 45 psi I have to cycle the key on n off about 4 times then it will start after i

for same pressure..
the pump check balls bad,or fuelpumpreg inside.
or the injectors leak
last poster too, said awhile, 1s, 1min, 1hr what is while>
spec. is 1/2 min leak down or longer.
so>? but keyon 4 times, is fail

unplug injectors, (elect) is pressure 49 +-5 psi? and holds.
now, bingo.
leak down fails now.
yes the filers are all in tank
yes, the injectors can leak

un connect fuel rail hose, to rail block it.
hold pressure now
yes, bad leaking injector
no,, pump assy bad. assembly, why takes bench tests.

Turbo diesel cruze periodically won't start then runs like a dog stalling and carying on clutch it and were good to go not coming up with any codes very annoying


check for air in the fuel system, faulty filter seals, faulty pump seals and leaking fuel lines back to the tank. The symptoms described are similar to air at the injectors or low fuel pressure to the injectors. If the system is common rail system ( electronic injectors with a very high pressure pump) then the problem may be in the pump not holding the pressure when stationary. May even be a leaking /faulty injector/s

89 600f. What could cause fuel to get in crankcase


the floats in the carburetor will cause fuel into the crankcase if they are not shutting off the fuel in the bowls. another thing could be it is running rich. if you have not had the carbs cleaned(rebuilt) this should be done.

Fuel pump leaking into oil system and turbo stopped working and also cuts out

(DO NOT PARK NEAR HOME, PARK IN STREET)
fuel that hits the oil pan can run down the exhaust pipe and put fuel
on the ground, very very dangerous. all cars.
the turbo is the least of worries.
on the JEEPS,we do what is called an injector leak down test.
its in the FSM how to do so.... and the injector balance test.

my answer is , GET IT services, now, and do not park in the garage.

89 honda accord engine is shaking when i shut it off


when you CUT the KEY this kills all spark and all fuel;. DEAD.
so must not skake.
on EFI cars, if the injector leaks, and the cylinders are red hot.
this causes, dieseling, or run-on. (fuel + hot cyl, = runs a bit)
On most carb cars this was normal.

the reason is the leaking injector(s)
they leak for 3 reasons.
dirty injector
bad injector
or bad ECU,
the test is in the FSM, called an injector balance and leak down test. (in all cars, made FSM for injectors, same tests)
all ASE mechs, know what to do...

On my 1992 Ford Aerostar 3.0 Engine (fuel injection) i'm getting fuel in the crankcase. What's causing this ?


In the old days, I would have said a leaking fuel pump diaphragm, but that can't happen anymore.

Assuming the engine does not run as rough as one with a bad plug would be, then I would suspect an injector.
If an injector does not seal up when off, then about a pint of gas will slowly drip into the crankcase every night.

Remove the injectors from the manifold, but leave on the fuel rail. Then turn the key or shunt the relay in order to turn the fuel pump on for a few seconds. The injectors should only fire intermittanly when their time comes. After that there should be no drips. If one is dripping or has a bad spray pattern that is not a cone, replace it.

My 1986 volkswagen jetta won't stay running and i think it has something to do with the throttle body or injectors, when i start it, it stays running for 4 to 5 seconds then shuts off how do i fix this...


normally you will find if you replace the filters it should solve the prob although if it does not then fuel pump acumulator valve might be faulty or vacuum hose to it leaking ( located on the end of the fuel rail to injectors)

Car will not start without spraying fuel into intake cant tell if fuel pump is running is there a reset switch and where is it located its a 1997 eclipse 2.0 non turbo


there is no such reset switch located in the car. First turn your key on and listen for the fuel pump to pressurize the lines. Then check to see if the fuel is leaking from the  filter. If it is you may have got the connection wrong. If thats the case your engine is not getting the proper fuel pressure to run. Hence its sucking air. If that does not work you might have a bad fuel pressure regulator sensor that is bad. Its located by the TBI. Reference a Haynes manual for replacement.
also if you did not fill the new filter with fuel then you have air in you system and engine will not run. so try taking it off and filling it with fuel and then replace it.

turning ignition on removes air from fuel lines and primes the fuel system. filling fuel filter with fuel is irrelevent, as lines need to be clear of fuel upon installation. leave ignition on after installation for roughly 30 seconds-one minute. this will prime the fuel lines and remove air and most water from the system. if problem continues, fuel injectors. this is a common problem in 90-92 camaros. if cannot start car, you'll need to replace every injector, as it's not cost-effective to diagnose every injector. roughly 300 dollars in quality parts, roughly 4 man hours of labor. if rough start that requires push on accelerator (try this), run the car with fuel injector cleaner. this should salvage you injectors. if this helps proformance, starting, then for the next 3-4 full tanks of gas, add stp injection cleaner for every tank of gas. be careful, as this does not restore your injectors, but it helps clear away deposits which are common in multi port injectors.
