Check control panel switch. Should be sending voltage to relays.

Can youput to much freon in and what will it do

4 cans will be too much
it makes the compressor pump liquid instead of gas and that damages the compressor
it the compressor is still capable of pumping gas then it will go to high head pressures and that will switch the compressor off
you have wasted your money, run the risk of expensive compressor damage , didn't fix the leak that required the gas
The specialist ac shops are not there to take your money but to give you a system that runs without problems so use them to fix the faults and put the right amount of gas in using gauges not cans

Where is the expansion valve located on the 2004 KIA Sedona

Kia Sedona expansion FRONT valve located under dash, behind glove box, fan and coil. Evacuate freon first. Disconnect Freon lines from firewall., Lay right front seat back to flat horizontal position and lay on top or totally remove the seat for easier working access. Remove under dash cover, fan, glove box, coil housing, remove coil mounting bolts, remove old expansion valve. (Inspect old valve, if debris inside, blow out coil before installing new valve. If visible debris best to consider replacing REAR expansion valve and DRIER/FILTER in front of radiator too and blow out all lines and coils while servicing.) Use compressor oil to lubricate "O" rings on new FRONT or REAR expansion valve, install valve bolts, reinstall coil bolts to FRONT firewall or REAR frame, reconnect freon lines to firewall in engine compartment. Evacuate AC system, install freon (35 1/2 ounces, nominal 3 pounds), check system for leaks, check for proper operation, enjoy.

AC runs for a few miles, then says it's low on freon and the compressor kicks off. It is not low on freon and I had a mechanic working on it for months. New compressor, dryer, orface tube, etc. Can you...

What is the pressure when the compressor running? should be between 25-35 PSI no more then that cause it wont get cold and might even say low on freon.

While the acr is running, the air conditionong compressor turns on for 2 seconds, then turns off for 3 seconds. This cycle continues for as long as I leave the A/C on. As I try to recharge the A/C...

Well, there are a couple of things to try, bypass the low pressure switch (jumper wire) and see if the system will ice up or not. Your low number 35 to 55 sounds like it is in the ballpark. The high number sounds like it is coming up short. I had good luck at Autozone with their partscomputer. If you get a really good counterperson they can look up the operating range for your low and high cutout pressure switches. They can be changed without losing all the Freon.

You want a steady low range, like 40, without fluctuation. That means you have constant flow taking heat out of your car. It means it will cool as good at idle as at 70mph. A weak low pressure switch will cut out too early, and can cause fluctuations.

Several things determine pressure in the system. There is valving in the compressor and if the compressor is worn, you have leaks between the high and low sides. The system needs a big difference between high and low. The drier is another part which can plug up, making it hard for the freon to pass through it. This problem raises pressure, but is not helping cooling because the flow is restricted. You should know these things because you may need more than a pressure switch.

I would check the operating range of the low pressure switch and try a new one. Install it and see what happens. If the low range does not get steady and keeps going up higher than 45, bleed off some Freon and see if it stabilizes.

Moderation is the Key. You do not want the compressor to cut off except when the oblong black tank is Iced up.

I hope you find my Solution very helpful.

Can i recharge the air conditioning in my 2001 pontiac grand am se 2.4L myself

yes you can! get an r134a hose and 2 or 3 cans of r134a refrigerant. Find the low side port which has a black or blue cap on it (unless it got thrown away) and use the 'quick connector' while the can is screwed on to the other side of the hose.

You can get a recharge kit for maybe $35 at walmart, which has 1 can of freon which might be all you need to get the cold back into your a/c system.

Make sure that the compressor turns and spins with the belt, and also that the fan turns on at the radiator when you put the a/c on high fan and the coolest setting.

The pressure should range anywhere from 25 to 45 psi when you do this procedure, and if the compressor is not turning the pressure should be 75 to 100 psi on a hot day.

Hope this helps!

My a.c is not cooling i put freon in and my compressor will only come on every now an then i replaced the switch in the dash but still did not help i did use a jumper wire to my compressor and it...

You may not have enough R134a in the system, or you have over charged the system and your high pressure switch is turning your compressor off when the pressure get's to high.
You really need a A/C gauge set to see of your system is over or under charge. If it's under charge, that's good. A over charged system will cause your a costly repair of replacing a $300.00 rebuilt compressor plus the vacuuming out the system and replacing the accumulator which may have parts from the compressor (bearing).
Normal readings on high and low side with AC OFF (static pressure) – Depends on outside temperature, but normally is between 80-105 PSI
Normal low side reading with AC on high speed and MAX & engine at 800-1000 RPM’s – Ranges from 25-35 PSI – Note that on many Chrysler products a normal reading on the low side may be 15-25 PSI
Normal high side reading ranges from 200-350 PSI
Could be overcharged, not enough air going across condenser fins, compressor not pumping sufficiently… BOTH gauge readings are really needed to get a better idea.
Don’t assume that if adding little Freon is good that adding a lot is better! Overcharging just a little can decrease the performance of the system and possibly damage the compressor, assuming the blower speed is on high, AC is set on maximum and engine is around 2,000 RPM’s

1. Check the high and low gauge readings with the AC on & set on MAX/Recirculate, middle vents with the engine at 2,000 RPM’s, blower speed on high.
2. Check the vent temperatures with a thermometer from the middle vents, far right & far left vents?
3. What is the outside temperature at the time the readings were taken? 4. Check to see if the condenser fan blowing strong?
5. Notice if compressor clutch is cylcling excessively.

Thank you for using fixya and good luck

No air conditionong have 45 psi freon compressor turns but clutch wont engage when it did it turned on and off numerouse times

You don't have enough freon in it. 45 psi when the compressor is not turning is low, Add one can and see what happens. Normal low side pressure with the compressor turning is 35 psi.

Compressor clutch does not engage--100 psi in system-

The compressor will not run without a minimum amount of R-134A. In some cases the compressor will shut itself down and require a reset (disconnect neg battery cable for 20min) prior to adding refrigerant. Best of luck with your AC issue.
