My parking lights stay on when i turn the engine off of my 2006 ford explorer, i have to disconnect the battery to turn them off

Try unhooking one of the battery cables and leave it off for at least 20 minutes. When you hook it back up the computers should re-boot. That has solved problems for me with heater, interior lites, power windows, AC, day time running lites, power mirrors, fast idle, rough or slow shifting, CD player, and wipers on GM autos and S-10 PU and Dodge trucks. None of the switches are connected to the device they control anymore. The switch tells the computer to open the window and the computer send a signal to the window motor. When the computer gets confused strange things will happen or not happen. Of course you may have to re-set your radio stations.

Wow, you're all over the page with this request! :)
By saying "wont crank up or get in gear" I need to know, when you turn the key to start, does it in fact make the engine crank?
Make sure the shifter, if automatic, is all the way up into park.
Make sure battery is fully charged. Battery terminals are clean and tight.
Then turn key to on, not start yet. Are lights lighting up on instrument panel? Yes? No?
Try these things and let us know what you have.

WHEN YOU DISCONNECT THE BATTERY THE ENGINE MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS PCM LOSES IT MEMORY INCLUDING ENGINE IDLING.THE COMPUTER WILL HAVE TO RELEARN THE OPERATING VALUES. IF CAR DOES A LOT OF STALLING AT STOP LIGHTS AND STOP SIGNS. GO BY FORD DEALERSHIP LET THEM REPROGRAM THE PCM.PROBABLY CHARGE YOU $35.00 DOLLARS. TO REPROGRAM PCM.

How to overide limp mode in 2006 ford fusion
put the key in the ignition, and turn it so the lights and everything come on, do not start the engine, then pump the brakes 3 times, turn it off, and then start the engine. This worked for my 2008 for fusion. (if the brakes don't work, try the gas 3 times make sure the engine is off and the car is in park)

Have a 2000 ford windstar, the parking lights stay on when car is off along with the light switch. What could be wrong?
park relay may be shorted. find relay in engine compartment relay box. Pull relay out--lights should go out. Put back in, does relay click? If no and lights come on again, replace relay.
If relay clicks, suspect your headlight switch is shorted. let me know if you have questions.

My 1998 ford explorer- the dash board turn signal lights stay on when the lights are turned on. also the engine temp gauge does not move even though the car does warm up. Any suggestions
The easiest thing to do is turn your emergency flashers on and off about 5 or ten times and see if it fixes it (sounds stupid but sometimes it works)Have you replaced any bulbs lately? I would check your turn signal bulbs to see if any filiments are shorted together. If you have trailer hitch wiring I would check for water in the connector and if it is not a factory wiring setup then I would completely disconnect it to see if it isn't feeding park lamp voltage back thru the turn signals.

2006 explorer. whencar put in reverse it won't move, when it does, it will jump and make a loud clanking sound
three things to check

bad Universal Joint,
with the vehicle in park and the parking brake firmly set get under the vehicle and check for excessive play at either end of the driveshaft.

bad transmission mount
get a helper, have them start the vehicle and with the parking brake firmly set and the brake pedal depressed put it in reverse (DO NOT BE UNDER VEHICLE AND STAY CLEAR OF TIRES) , watch the driveshaft and transmission for movement.

bad motor mount
open the hood, have the helper once again start the engine and put the vehicle in reverse with the parking brake set and the brake pedal depressed, watch for excessive engine movement.

2009 ford fusion engine light stays on steady
You just have to disconnect the battery for 1/2 hour. then reconnect and drive for 10 miles so computer can relearn your engine again. It may run rough. You should have the key off when refueling because computer sensed a fuel vapor leak during fueling and turned the light on.

Also, you can always drive with a check engine light on. It just means you are not meeting emissions. Do not drive if it's flashing on and off.
