Call a tow truck and take it to a dealer. They are the only one who can reprogram the module in the steering column. It is a huge secret and they will lie to you about how it is done. There is a special computer they use that is kept under lock and key and when they plug it in to your car, it connects to the factory and the mechanic at your dealer does not even know what happens. I have searched the internet for hours and hours and the information is not out there. Your auto club should pay the tow.

What could be causing the problem I have had no problems with the car up to now . I went to several places and it started got it home no problem went into 3 hours later and it did not start

Not much to go on. I would make sure you have a good battery. You can have headlights, but not enough power to turn over the starter.

Replaced WIN module 2010 grand caravan, still will not start. WIN module is out of an 2009 caravan matched key. It appear to have triggered a theft code when they "flashed' the replacement module.

You need to reprogram the WIN module to the previous keys and also reprogram the WIN module with the VIN number, a lockmisth with a DMAX tool can do this for you.

Now my mechanic wants to know if i have another key to my car i dont can he get a key at the buick dealership a 1995 key

The Passlock family has two basic relearn procedures-a ten-minute procedure and a thirty-minute procedure-and which one you use depends on the system and what components have been replaced.

The ten-minute procedure involves trying to start the engine. If nothing happens or the engine starts and dies, the security light will be flashing. Wait ten minutes. The flashing light should go off or illuminate without flashing. When it does, turn the ignition off, wait twenty seconds, and then try to start the engine. If it starts and runs, everything is okay. If you get the same result as previously-nothing happens or the engine starts and dies with the security light flashing-wait ten more minutes.

You will now begin the thirty-minute relearn procedure, which is just the ten-minute procedure repeated three times. After turning the ignition off for the third time and waiting for twenty seconds, the engine should start and run. If it doesn't, there may still be something wrong with the system.

After the learn procedure is completed and the engine is running, the security light may stay on steady for a few minutes and then go off-this is normal. Depending on the system, replacement of key components will necessitate that a relearn procedure be completed. These include the ignition lock cylinder, Powertrain Control Module (PCM), Body Control Module (BCM), or Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) ............ .Logic lock-up is an internal software issue within a control module which may be cleared by disconnecting and reconnecting the affected module (re-booting the system).

Electronic control modules can develop internal software issues which can cause erratic or no operation of the affected module. In most cases the module can be restored to proper operation by electrically disconnecting and reconnecting the affected module, just as you would reboot your home computer when it begins acting strangely.

Repeated Logic Lock-up failures of the same module would normally warrenty replacement of the affected module.

Is ther a security problem when installing a auto start

Hi my name is Ben. The mechanic is telling you the truth. Chevrolet uses what they call the PassLok system. Even though there is no security chip in your key, there is still a security chip in the ignition switch which must be bypassed for the remote start to work. The actual bypass module is relatively cheap, but it does require extra labor to install. I hope this helps.

The sercurity switch has stoped the engine from starting

This is a common problem on GM vehicles. It all starts at the key and if the TDM (Theft Deterrent Module) does not receive the right signal from the key, the SECURITY light will come on and car will not start. Here is a link with info on how this system works, along with pictures and ways to fix this yourself for alot cheaper than the Dealer mechanic. GOOD LUCK. Comment back on this post if you need help.

My car won't start. It sounds like it wants to turn over, but doesn't. I had a mobile mechanic come out and troubleshoot the problem. He hooked some type of reader to my car. Two codes came up. "P1631...

You might try to reset the computer. Here is the way you do it.

Turn the key to the ON position.
Then press the gas pedal all the way to the floor and let all the way off 3 times.
Then turn the key off. The next time you turn the key on it will have reset the computer. Not too sure if it will reset those codes. But it is free and worth a try!

Hope this helps you!!! If so please check YES! Thanks!

Car would not start, after siiting for an hour it did start .

mcdevito75 here, BEST BET, let the shop do this work, too many un forseen problems could come up. The stalling and unable to start for a while could also be a bad ignition module, no test for this part, but I would have it changed, for if it is a bad ignition module, all this other work will not fix the stalling and later start of your car.

2002 pontiac gran prix will start for about 5 seconds and security light flashes and car shuts off . I had a different problem last week, it just seemed to start when it wanted to and would be good for...

usually if there is a security problem on the car , it has to do with the ignition cylinder being that is where the passlock is located . the module has to see a certain resistance when the key is turned to varify that the key is being used rather then someone breaking the cylinder apart when being stolen. Try when the security light is flashing , to leave the key in the on position for 10 minutes to see if the security light stops flashing ,make sure you battery is good , if this works , when the light stops flashing , the vehicle should start. if it does then replace the ignition cylinder and reprogram the module.
