Try turning steering wheel left and right while pulling on key, not to hard. If that doesn't work call auto dealer service dept. maybe they can help.

I have the same problem, if you pull apart the plastic around the ignition there's a little black cable that runs from the ignition to the shifter it allows the key to go down into the lock position therefore coming out. The cable is broken or it came disconnected like mine did.You have to unbolt the center console to get to it.

It is integrated in your entire electrical system of your vehicle. the only way to bypass is to get an aftermarket alarm with a bypass module which will require an additional ignition key (which is inserted into the bypass module).

Do 2004 Galamts have a chip in the ignition key or can I get one made anywhere they make keys?

Yes, they do. I have purchased inexpensive keys on line and had the hardware store cut them. If you have the original keys you can program the keys yourself by putting your keys into your ignition . The procedure is described in your owners manual. You can make 4 to 6 extra keys.
