Un-hook one cable from your battery and leave it off for at least 20 minutes then hook it back up. That re-boots the computer. If the light comes back on then you have an actual problem not just a spurious code set. Take it to Advance Auto parts and they will read out the computer error codes for you and that will tell you what the computer thinks the problem is. Of course you may have to re-set your radio stations.

Check engine light blinks

The reason for hesitation of vehicle when accelerating is due to lack of transmission fluid. Check your ride for any leaks and repair them. Filling the transmission tank with fresh fluid after repairing may solve the problem.

I think its the transmission.

Do you have a check engine light showing in the dash? If it was an ignition problem you would have a CEL on.

Jurking gas smell shifting hard little power when pulling heels

well, there are a few things you can try! a bad tps ( throttle position sensor ) transmission shift issues, bucking, jerking, idle surging, engine cutoff, hesitation on take off, surge while cruising down highway. also be sure your fuel filter is ok! and not plugging up. a maf sensor symtom is surge, slip condition under load, the mass air flow or MAF may be degraded or contaminated. stalling, misfiring, poor acceleration. a light may not come on. you can go to any auto parts store and buy a spray can of maf sensor cleaner. follow directions on can, and this should help alot. good-day!!

IT COULD BE DIRTY CLOGGED FUEL INJECTORS OR BAD SPARK PLUGS + WIRES STOPPED UP AIR FILTER. BUT HAVE CAR SCANNED IT COULD BE MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR OR VOLUME AIR FLOW SENSOR.COULD BE MANY THINGS.

I installed new intake monifold gaskets because the bottom one was sucking air in and my 1996 dodge intrepid 3.5 liter engine would run at 2300 RPM'S. After changing the gaskets the car is hard to start...

Take it to bits again and check the gasket you put on and all the other gaskets as it still sounds like you have air sucking and a blockage somewhere else so check out all parts you done and the parts you dident

When I accelerate it does a fluctuation in gears...the rpm goes up and down...even when im driving at 40 mph it shifts then it hesitates at that speed..could it be the throttle sensor is dirty?

Is the "check engine" light on??? to isolate your problem have you tried MANUALLY shifting the trans (automatic) and still doing it?? check the fluid level and condition of the oil...sound more like the trans is slipping...the "TP" sensor will effect the engine and trans. But not cause over-reving......hope this helps...GL

When driving (auto) in 2nd gear car jurks

If the transmission fluid was VERY low, the damage may already be done. I know on alot of Rav-4's, there is a computer problem, that causes transmission problems. basically, it wants to shift into 2 gears at once, and will eventually make the transmission come apart. BUT, it has to be replaced WITH the ECU because it will just break the new transmission. I would take it to your local Toyota dealer and have them check the ECM and transmission.
