Try this. When you first try to turn your engine on, keep your foot on the gas pedal. The car should turn over but not start. (don't worry, its not supposed to). Take your foot off the gas and turn the ignition on again, but Don't touch the throttle this time. That should set your choke correctly. To summarise: Turn key with foot on Gas. Take foot off Gas, and turn key again.
I have seen this time and again on this motor.will it idle in neutral or with foot on accelarator,The map sensor had a tsb on the hose. But unplug map sensor and see if it will idle.It will throw a code ,before doing any thing above,cycle key three times and read flashes
idol air controler keeps car running at idol speed ,you can take it off and clean it with throttle body cleaner to get carbon off its located on throttle housing ,if this works or improves your problem at all get a new one...
Have him remove & clean th IAC/AIS motor on the throttle body, and the port it came out of , as well as clean inside of throttle body if he hasn't done so already. Check and clean connections before re-assembling. Shouldn't take any longer than 1/2 hr or so.
