The gas tank has nothing to do with the gauge. The fuel pump float could be stuck or the slide could have been bent when the pump was put back in. Also, the electrical connector could be unplugged or sot fully connected. This happens when someone pulls the wire instead of the plug.

Gm has a real problem with fuel tank sending units. That is what is wrong. You need a fuel tank sending unit. You can only get them aftermarket with the whole fuel pump module, but you can buy them seperate if you buy it from the dealer.

Sorry no the sending unit in your tank is bad replace it. If you are sure of amount of as you have and you know your average MPG you could wait till your tank is low so as not to waste much gas Give yourself a 3MPG reduction for error accountability.

I have a Hyundai Elantra 2001. The low fuel light came on and won't go off even though the car if full of gas.

If gauge still shows empty and light is on then inside tank there is a arm thats prob just stuck remove lower rear seat and will see entry to tank gauge has about 3 to 4 screws open and check if arm is down or floating .

Gas gauge doesn't work

All though your car would have 2 fuel pumps (one in tank and one under drivers rocker panel) you need to replace fuel pump inside your gas tank. The gauge resistor and the fuel pump is only there and it controls the gauge in your dash.

My gas gauge is inop, any solutions?

The fuel pump in the tank has a high and low resistance setting on it. Sometimes this quit working and won't read anymore. Have you replaced the pump lately? The pump could still work even though the mechanism went bad.

Gas gauge

Most likely it's the voltage stabilizer for the gauge itself... some are replaceable (plug in type), some are part of the printed circuit... if so get another cluster from a junk yard and swap it out... Hope this helps...;-)
