Wrong. You have to take off the plastic cover first, then the cross bar that has 4 bolts, two on each side, disconnect the fuse cable and put the bar somewhere out of the way. Now you can disconnect your battery cables, and unscrew it from the plastic tray it sits on at the bottom. That will get it out. GM makes garbage. The real fun starts when you have to replace the alternator in one.

SOURCE: Dead battery in 1999 Oldsmobile silhouette

you have to take the fuse box out. unhook the hot wire from the front of the fuse box.then there is a little black holder with which you can take a flat head screwdriver and lift the little peg in the middle of it which will then come out. then just pull the fuse box off to the side and u should be to the battery.hope this helps

Torque converter circuit

There is a simple fix... you can unplug it ( a shop can do that in about 1 minute or less.)
It has to be taken apart(transmission) to install a new module.. Unplugging it will get rid of the OVERdrive function.. meaning a little higher RPM at highway speeds.. but will be cheaper than a 1500+$$ job of removal and repair....
