A bad fuel pump will not keep the engine from turning over. I would first test your battery and make sure your connections are clean. If that check out I would check your starter and starter relay.

Where is the starter located in the GMC sierra 2007 5.3L? What is the best way to get to the starter to change it?

It's on the lower right rear side of the engine. Just follow the positive battery cable. It will lead you to the starter. Before you mess with it, make sure to disconnect the negative battery cable, or you may do some unexpected welding! Good luck, and contact me if I can help you at all.

2003 5.3L 4x4 GMC Sierra has started being hard

Sounds like a Solenoid might be bad on the starter if it spins freely and a high rate of speed without engaging.

Also, the relay could be bad.

I am ot sure if the fuel filter and pressure regulator would cause this problem.

No code will show with a bad starter or bad relay, I don't believe.

Good luck with this one.

Replace starter on 1992 GMC Sierra pickup truck

First thing unhook positive battery cable, unhook main cable on starter selanoid and small wire on selanoid (there may be 2 small wires) There may be a bracket on front of starter that has to be removed, and then the 2 main bolts that hold it to engine block and it should come out.
