If it's just surface rust with no holes use a grinder and clean the spot to bare shiny metal. Use some spot putty and completely cover the metal. Then sand it down smooth and put some primer on it. When you sand it down pay close attention to your edges. Sand them into the paint so that you can't feel the difference between the patch and the old paint. After the primer dries use a spray can and paint the spot because primer will absorb water and you will have to do the repair again.
If the spots have small holes in them you should get a can of body fill called "Tiger Hair". It has fiberglass in the compound and will easily fix small holes. Use this before the spot putty and sand it smooth. Then cover that with a thin layer of spot putty to fill any imperfections, primer and paint.
If you have holes bigger than 1/2 inch then you should be able to get small wire mesh patchs at your local auto parts store. These will stick to the bare metal after grinding and you can put your tiger hair over that. This will be a bigger patch. It will need to be about 3 times bigger than the hole you are filling to be relatively unnoticable.
This won't give you a show car but it should keep inspectors off your back. Hope this helps.

I have a Chevrolet Silverado 1500 wt plain 2 wheel drive no power anything bought in 2013 it had a small 2" rust spot on floor inside drivers side along weather stripe now it is over a foot . Please.

Please what? The only way to fix rust right is to cut it out and replace with new material. I'd take it to a body shop and ask for an estimate. Tell them you want it to last. Estimates are free.

Repair coil spring

Remove all the components, drill out the spot welds for the rusted panels, probably about 100 of them. Get new panels and weld them back in. Very difficult procedure and somewhere in the expert skill level. Suggestion is get another car and turn that one in for scrap metal.

97 voyager frame rail rotting out

a good sign to junk it as the repair will be expensive to carry out . The rocker panel (frame rail ) is an integral part of the body and is responsible for the body integrity especially in an accident. If one side is rusted out then the body shell that it is a part of will be rusted as well as the other side Before repairing have the body inspected so that you will be able to cost repairs against another vehicle.

Hi I have a 1981 280se w126 and it has severe rust in the lip of the boot/trunk (big holes) this expensive to fix/replace? Also the metal panel underneath that area on the inside of the trunk is...

Considering your car is only worth $5,000 in great shape, I don't think it is worth repairing a rusted out frame and under body. If it was a 72, I would say yes, but 81, ahh, My brother used to restore cars, I saw what he went through, buying and selling his cars, He stopped buying rust buckets, if they had one spec of rust, he didn't touch it, there are plenty of rust free cars out there, And repairing rust is a nightmare, your Mercedes is not like a Chevy where they have every panel in stock ready to weld in, You would need to hire a body man full time for a year to get those panels fixed back up, and get it done on the frame??? Forget it, the frame is probably shot. Painting the undercarriage will take most of your money, you will never get it back out of the car. Hope this helps.

I have a rust spot on the rocker panel between the door and bed on passenger side, do they make replacement panels and how are they applied

There are panels available from several manufacturers, no matter who makes it, it will require welding to install. Ford will definately make the part you need but it will be relatively expensive, if you want an aftermarket part just google "rust repair panels"

When we fix small rust spots we usually fabricate replacement parts out of 22 ga steel.

1994 acura integra--Paint job.

Surface rust can be worse than it appears so then in that case, the bad spots will have to be cut out and new metal welded in its place. (Look at the rust from underside of the panel--moisture gets there and rusts from the inside out) Paint chips can be sanded down. As far as a quote, here in southeast Missouri would be $1600-$1700 for a full body paint job.

Rust on an Audi TT

Audi give a 10 year anti corrosion warranty.
Take to dealer and get them to look at it. I took a 7 year old A4 down and they repainted the bootlid under warranty.
