Do yourself a favor and do NOT buy one from the parts Store. buy it from the dealer. It has hoses attached to the EGR pipe, so its easy to find.

Replace P1401 DPFE Sensor circuit

The P1401 code could be for anything Egr related. Usually it is a defective DPFE (differential pressure feedback Exhaust) But, it can also be caused by a defective EGR valve or EVR (Exhaust Valve Regulator) solenoid/switch. --or an air leak at any part of the system including the silicone hoses that feed the DPFE/

1999 Ford Taurus se, the car was running fine yesterday but after idling in the closed garage for about a minute it started to sputter with a almost sulfur odor and the service engine soon light came on...

Go to an Autozone, Oreily, or Advance auto parts store. They will scan you car for free and can reveal the Code and possible fix.

Possibly the air sensors went out of balance when there was no fresh air. Sounds like sensors read the engine as "Lean" due to lack of Oxygen and set engine to a rich setting.

Have 2002 Ford Taurus SE and testing at auto zone brought up code P1400, can you tell me what this mean? Thank you, Shawna Hughes

That would be your DPFE sensor low voltage. This is the feedback sensor for the egr valve and it has exhaust gases running through it at basically all times. They have 2 different styles (plastic and aluminum) and they all fail eventually. The replacement should be plastic which typically lasts longer in my experience. It should be under $50 and fairly easy to replace. I recommend replacing the rubber hoses as well since they crack and will probably break during removal or soon after.

The error code P1401 comes up on my Ford Taurus SE 2002. Can you tell me what it stands for and how to fix the problem?

P1401 - DPFE EGR CIRCUIT HIGH INPUT

Your DPFE is no good hate to say but probably was your proplem the whole time none of the other parts not needed except the fuel filter and pcv good PM stuff there. The DPFE is either going to be a silver or black box around where the egr valve is. be sure not to get the hoses crossed when putting it back on.

Keep us updated.

Wat does code p1400 means

In order to give you accurate information. I need size of engine example 2.0 L 3.0L. but code P1400 means Differential Pressure feedback EGR circuit low input. Maybe your differential oil is low.

Do you mean "DPFE"? DPFE stands for Delta Pressure Feedback EGR sensor. It is the sensor that tells your onboard computer whether the EGR Valve is opening up when it is told (by the computer) to do so. It has 2 hoses made of high temperature silicone that connect to two small metal tubes that protrude from the larger metal tube that connects the EGR Valve to the exhaust maifold. Sometimes the high temperature exhaust gasses will burn the DPFE sensor nipples if the vehicle is equipped with the black plastic DPFE sensor. This is sometimes caused by a restriction in the exhaust system such as a bent pipe or a clogged catalytic converter. In such cases, replacement of the DPFE sensor alone will result in a repeat repair.
If your vehicle has a build date prior to May 2002. there is a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) pertaining to your DPFE sensor - I would recommend having it checked out by a professional.
