Question about 1985 Chevrolet Suburban

1 Answer

Rain water leaking into drivers compartment under each end of dash board. It appears to be coming in near junction of dashboard and side wall. I have taken outside vent near bottom of windshield off in hopes of seeing what is happening but the opening goes down out of site so I can't see full opening.

Sounds like a badly sealed windshield. If recently replaced have them redo it. If not then possibly dry rotting seal.

Water leak driver floor board

A water leak under the dash could be the heater leaking near the glove box, or a windshield leak, or sometimes the drain tube for that area has gotten plugged up and needs to be cleared out. Most times a little blast of air pressure will do it.
Hope this helps.

Water leak driver floor board

You have to find the leak
Have a shop use their Evap Smoke Machine
Pressurize the cabin & see if smoke comes out
around the windshield,engine compartment,etc
Hate to run hose over the car, but you can see it come
in,so that is an option, with someone under the dash with
a light watching.
Check on internet for the issue on your vehicle
Call an auto glass place, for advice on what they solve

Leaking Fluid

Hi Sarah, I'm glad to help!

Sarah, you can rule out the A/C because the A/C wasn't running when the problem occurred. You can also rule out any fluids from the engine are transmission for they only leak on the ground not inside the vehicle. What you have is a water leak coming in from the rain. Here's a good way to find out where its coming from. Take your home garden hose and run water from the top of the vehicle down the windshield and watch under the dash board to see if you can see where it is coming from. NOTE: You may have to move the hose in different areas until the water comes into the vehicle. Once you find where the leak is then have the glass company repair the leak. Hope this helps and have an awesome day Sarah.

Leak under dashboard

The only fluids under the dash are coolant that circulates through the heater core, or if you have a manual transmission a failed clutch master cylinder can leak brake fluid under the dash right where clutch pedal is located. If the heater core is leaking, it usually shows up on the passenger side. If it is just plain water, you need to check how rain water could be getting in past the firewall and under the dash.

Vacuum leak on 95 buick riviera, I have several problems related to vacuum leaks. First is cruise control quit working recently, second windshield washers not working and third air conditioner seems to...

May have to check out if the vacuum motors have the vacuum tubes attached but this may take a lot of work to disassemble the heating ventilation air conditioning out of the dash and underneath the dashboard. If rain enters the compartment under the dashboard, the pan that is designed to catch water may be disturbed or cracked somehow. Try to check fuses for a/c and the heating, the cruise control, and windshield wipers to see if there is an obvious electrical issue there. The vacuum leak is not related to the windshield wiper motor not working.

Good luck on this repair.

I cannot locate my fuse box, 96 pontiac grand prix. I looked on both dash ends by the doors, under the driver and pass dash, as well as under the hood.

i looked it up and from the picture, it looks like the fuse box is below the drivers dash, on the left side behind a wall panel near the floor next to the black foot rest thing. try and look there

2000 Grand Cherokee Dashboard leak

Maybe. If you have a fixed antenna on that side of the vehicle, the large rubber gromet on the wire leading into the passenger compartment may have come out, allowing lots of rain water to enter the vehicle. Happened on my 94 and flooded the passenger side.

Water in floorboard

Either the sealant that was used in putting your windshield in has began to fail, or there may be a larger opening under the vents, or on the firewall in the engine compartment. Look under the vent slats/holes under the windshield wipers. Look in the bulkhead that separates the engine from the dashboard(With the hood up). Those are the only ways water is getting in. Seal it with an expanding style sealer
