It's right behind the catalytic converter on the exhaust pipe. Looks like a spark plug screwed into the pipe with wires running up into the connector.

Error code p0161 on ford windstar 2002

Hi there:

This fault code refer at Oxygen O2 Sensor Circuit Low Voltage (Bank 2, Sensor 2), and basically means the PCM detected either an excessive current draw, or an open or short in the circuit powering the oxygen sensor's heater circuit. This is in reference to the Heated Oxygen Sensor (2) located rear of catalytic converter (Bank 2).

A code P0161 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:

  • HO2S heater power circuit open
  • HO2S heater ground circuit open
  • HO2S signal tracking (due to oil or moisture in the connector)
  • HO2S is damaged or has failed PCM has failed

Possble soutions:
  • Replace HO2 Sensor
  • Repair open or short in power circuit
  • Repair open or short in ground circuit
  • Repair damaged connector due to tracking

Use this Ford diagram about O2 sensor location...

O2 Sensor 2 Bank 2 = HO2S 2/2 (zoom image link)

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Wheres the location of the number one bank oxygen censer on a ford windstar 3..8 liter 2002

bank one is always the same side of the engine as the number one cylinder. Bank two is the opposite side.

the number one cylinder is on the back side of the engine closest to the firewall. the upstream (sensor 1) O2 sensor will be in the exhaust manifold. The downstream (sensor 2) will be in the exhaust pipe after the catalytic converter.

Gegeco.2003 Ford Windstar Exhaust Sensor location

The Windstar has four sensors in the exhaust system. Each side (bank) has two sensors. The first sensor after the exhaust manifold is the oxygen sensor and monitors how that bank is running, sending information to the computer. The second sensor is a catalytic converter monitor sensor. It monitors the job the cat is doing, sending info to the processor as well. The connectors are blue or gray (factory) and are located on the engine side of the exhaust. The front sensors are a little more difficult to get to then the rears.

There is also a sensor called a DPFE that measures back pressure from the exhaust and is used to properly operate the EGR system. It is located on the left side of the engine torward the rear of engine (front of car). Good luck.

Oxygen sensors

you have 3, 2 upstream and one downstream. They have wire harnesses attached to them and they screw into the exhaust system. Ususally two in the exgaust crossover pipe, the other just behind the catalytic converter.
