Question about 1988 Jeep Cherokee

1 Answer

Recently my 1988 jeep cherokee limited started getting really jerky when trying to go up hills and almost like it won't make it up at all. I thought it might be low on transmission fluid but I checked and it's right below full. Any suggestions on what I might need to do to fix it?

1988 jeep won't start

Not sure if I read your post right, but you have to have a hot wire to the ignition switch from the battery, independent of anything else on the car, before the switch will work.
The CPS is a common problem on the jeeps, though. If bad, you may not get a coil signal.

Sounds like the starter. If you remove the starter and take it to autozone or advance auto parts, they will test it for free.

Starting problems

Sound like fuel pump. Need to check fuel pressure. It seem to be finally getting back up to the motor, then starting up. Try parking the front of the car down hill and see if it starts up a few days in a row????
