Being its a 98 it should have obd2,so it should be leaving a code and a check engine light should be comeing on.if it doesnt have any codes and no check engine light then its going to something thats not monitored by the obd2.BUT it doesnt sound like a fuel problem it,it sounds like an electrical or brainbox (ECM)problem.Have it tested

98 astro awd doesnt like to start in real cold weather (-18C) otherwise runs fine

I have a 98 and we just had a cold snap where it was super cold and I didn't start it for about a week. I had just got a new battery because mine tested out bad. Everything was good but now it doesn't want to get fuel. Cleaned all battery and relay connections and it's turning over great and fires with starting fluid but won't start. Guy at Napa said the fuel pump on these are known to not work well in the cold and suggested to warm the tank. I'm parked outside and can't move it to get it inside somewhere. Anyone know of good solution to this fuel pump not working in cold temps issue?

When the jeep has been dirven for about an hour it starts having power problems when u try to speed up it bogs down really bad and wont allow u to speed up starts to back fire a couple times when u stop it...

Sounds like a mass air flow or map sensor fault. Could try running the car with either disconnected, if there is a vast improvement then it is likely to be that part.

1993 pontiac sunfire turns over but wont start.I can hear fuel pump working? help!!

This works for a 96-98 grand am for sure. Maybe help ou out? You could try resetting the computer. The car maybe in lockout mode. Try turning your car over….leave the ignition on. Wait exactly 10 min. Then try turning over again….again leave the key on. Wait exactly 10 min and do it a third time….this time the car should start…maybe run a lil rough while it relearns the processes of your vehicle again. It is important to wait the exact 10 min each time. You will probably need a battery charger or a set of jumper cables because if your car goes low during this process it will not work. Good luck and I hope this works.

Possibly you have a porous sump in the fuel tank.

98 Jeep Cherokee Laredo 4X2 suddenly dies .....

It sounds like you have some **** in the gas tank that is being drawn to the pickup blocking it.
Have seen this and because it seems so random, it can drive ya nuts.

You might carry a coffee can with you and pull the line from the fuel rail when this happens stick it in the can and just have someone turn the key on for a few seconds.
Beware though, it comes out with force.

Also possible is a failed fuel pressure regulator.
Those aren't expensive and . . . well, not very good either.
