I had the same problem. It's the altnerator. The altnerator has a clutch on the pulley and and try's to lock up when it's under a load. But I had that fixed and no more problems. I had a guy rebuild mine and replace the pulley and didn't cost but $75

If idle pulley was replaced and still noise what is it

Well a place to start is pull off the belt and spin the Idler, Tensioner, AC, Alternator, and Power steering, Smog pump (if equipped) pulleys all should spin easy with no noise. Does the sound go away or change when turning on the AC? Also start the car with the belt off to make sure the noise is not coming from the motor. If noise go's away then it has to be one of the items I mentioned above. Cost will be depending on location and type of part gone bad.

AC Clutch noise and vibration

An A/C clutch will not make this concern happen, more likely the A/C compressor is begining to go out. The belt on the A/C clutch Assy. free wheels (spins feree on the pulley) when clutch is not engaged. If concern is not present with A/C off this means the bearings in the puley assy. ok. Once the A/C clutch is engaged it locks the compressor against the spinning pulley and turn the compressor chaft and spins the A/C compressor internal shaft. If you hear a loud "screach" when you turn on the A/C it means the belt slipped for a second, if it continiues to screach it means either the belt is loose or that the compressor is internaly locking up. I wouild start by checking the belt tension (if not equipted with and auto tensioner). You can also remove the belt and turn on the A/C and attempt to turn the clutch/pulley by hand, it should turn with a little effect but should not bind or lock at times if that happens compressor is bad.

I have a screeching noise when I start my air conditioning.

It could be but how easy was the belt tensioner ? that may be the problem by not putting enough tension on the belt. How tight is the belt ?

I own a 2005 rx8. Have a loud rattling noise on front passenger side while AC is running and car is idling. Had engine mounts replaced back in 2007. Could it be the same thing? If not, any ideas?

first of all.. lucky ******* i want your car. anyways. when you turn on the ac the car drops idle a little bit and vibrates more. i'm guessing your exhaust pipe is rattling against its worn mounting or something is too close to it and it is vibrating against it. check the right side exhaust pipe and i'm sure you'll see something thats too close or the support mounting worn

Battery light turned on. Lost power steering and AC.

You broke your serpatine belt. Needs replacing. It's a $50ish part and easy to do if you have a diagram under the hood of how the belt fits. But if it was "rattling" for a couple of weeks take it in for crying out loud. Let the mechanic look it over to make sure your lack of vechile care didn't destroy anything under the hood.....

2002 nissan altima revs up while idle

I had the same problem, you can replace both the acc band and the band tensor, the vibration comes from a loose band.

My rio kia bought on from uyi technical dealer in benin city, edo state of nigeria only 4 months ago is vibrating with noise while driving. The noise is noticed by other road users even in motion, making a very loud noise or sound that is highly embarrassing. The dealer mechanics have checked more than twice yet no result, instead the hub bearing is observed; tyres are turn over yet the noise persists.

02 altima belt noise

OK, went through the exact same thing this week. Put on a new belt, checked for proper seating, etc, etc. and that wasn't it. Read all through this site and others and it comes down to one of two things, the tension pulley assembly or the compressor itself. Seeing as compressors ran about $300 or so and the pully assembly is less than $50 and takes about 45 min to an hour to replace, I did that first. And for me, that was it. Tip for replacing the pulley assembly? Have a wide variety of sockets (depth) and extensions.

Squealing NOISE possibly from fan belt

If the noise going away every time u turning off the ac it's probably your ac compressor belt.however i will suggest to take some vaseline and rub it all over the exposed parts of your drive belt.
