The transmissin might have several sensors atached to it, the easiest thing to do is go to an auto parts store and ask to see a "trans Sensor" so you can compare it, you will have to crawl under the vehicle and look at the trans.

Usually bad "solenoid pack" inside automatic trans. Although, you usually also get a slight hesitation followed by a "clunk" when switching from forward to reverse. Also possibly computer programming error. If it has "adaptive" shifting (i.e. "computer learns your driving pattern and shifts accordingly"), you can have Ford change the programming to a standard shift pattern. (It's a wonderful difference in transmission performance).

No forward engagement in drive position

If engine revs go high and no forward movement you most likely need a new transmission

the range switch on the trans maybe bad. its usually right twhere the linkage attaches from the shifter to the trans. But I would recommend a garage that does FORD work to ck it for you. You could guess and replace a lot of uneeded parts.

Check for water in the transmission selector pack.

After rain or a good car wash, water can get into this transmission gear selector/sensor box.

attach to transmission, and move/select by the linkage RND21 movement.

I have to replace my selector box because the bad contact tell the trans computer it's on a different gear!
