Question about 1995 Mazda MX-3

1 Answer

Mazda MX-3 1.6 1996 I was very low on petrol and immediately after filling up the car stalled when pulling away. It restarted ok but only ran with very light pressure on the accelerator. Starting the next day the tick over was fine but the engine gave problems when pulling away, even with the engine cold. I thought it was dirt in the fuel system but the garage I took it to say it is a heat sensor valve sticking. Does this sound true?

The heat sensor would have the engine believe it was cold so increase the fuel to the engine(like having the choke out),so sounds reasonable.....

i would start by checking the spark plugs and leads. if that ok i would think there is a problem with the dispack that the spark plug leads fit to, if its cracked or any rust i would replace.

Not a lot to go on! Remove the distributor cap and see if turns when the engine is cranked. My guess is the timing belt is shot. Frankster016

Have you checked that you have power to the coil on cranking? You may also want to check wether you have a good strong spark at the spark plug.It could be an ignition module breaking down.If you have no power to the coil you may need to change the ignition relay. Its close to the battery.
