Question about Chrysler 300M

1 Answer

I have a 2004 Chrysler 300 m with 95,000 miles. The car has been running great but over the last month or so the check engine light pops off and on. The first time it did it the car jerked and hesitated as I was accelerating at 30 mph at 2000 rpm, I backed off and it stopped and ran fine. A couple of days later the light went off and the car ran great. A few days later the light popped on again but ran fine and then popped off. Today it popped on again and made the same jerking hesitating motion while accelerating to 30 mph at around 2000 rpm. I backed off and it stopped, but then did it again a little later. Any ideas

What needs to be done at this point is a DTC (trouble code) from the PCM (engine computer). If the engine light comes on, the PCM stored a fault code and would be the first area to start with a diagnosis.Once this code is obtained, it will give an idea of where a diagnosis should begin. Autozone will hook a code reader to your vehicle and check it for Free. I'm guessing this could be a TPS issue, but to guess and replace parts without pin pointing the actual cause will cost a lot of time, not to mention money for parts that did not need replacing to start with.We need a code from the PCM.

I would suspect the fuel is the problem, most likely water is in the fuel, but get the codes read to see what fault shows up that turned on the check engine light.

sounds like the coil pack is failing or you could just have water in your fuel.... buy a couple bottles of gas line antifreeze (it sucks up water) and add them to your tank when you fill up.... if that doesn't fix it it is likely the coil pack

If the battery is running down I would have the alternator checked and the battery checked I would also check and make sure no lights are staying on even the one under the hood .

Sudden loss of power while driving

One thing you should notice that could tell you if the the engine is misfiring is that the check engine light will flash. If it dose it is saying you have a misfire in either one or more cylinders. If the check engine light dose not flash then it could be more of a fuel pump related issue. but as I said 1st thing would be to check the code... then i could tell you whats going on. good luck

had a problem with a grand prix like that once, was the fuel filter, and injectors, all needed replaced, and it only had 89,000 miles.
Would check fuel filter first. Is it possible you got some bad gas??
