Water pump where is it the belt is loose

the water pump is under the timing chain cover. if your serpentine belt is loose, that is the belt you can see, then your tensioner is shot. you can buy a new tensioner for about 50 bucks at a parts store. search on www.youtube.com for video directions on how to replace it. if your serpentine belt has not been changed this is a good time to do that as well as it has to come off. replacement of the tensioner and belt is done via a service panel behind the right front wheel.

Replace serpantine belt 2004 malibu

Get a 1/2" breaker bar and remove tension on belt by rotating the tensioner until belt is loose.

Remove belt noting the under over method.

Install new belt. The smooth pulleys have the back of the serpentine belt, and the grooved pulleys have the inside front of the serpentine belt up against it.

In this way you can reroute any serpentine belt on the market.

Good luck.

Replacing the belt tensioner and serpentine belt in a 1999 mercury mystique but the belt is still loose how do I get it to tighten

You either have the wrong belt, or it's not on correctly. Make sure all of the pulleys are secure. (Like the power steering pump support bracket isn't loose) The diagram for the belt is usually under the hood.

Serpentine belt

The power steering and power brakes are connected to an extent. They both pull their power from the same place (basically) I would check to make sure that you have enough fluid in both first. Then check to make sure you dont have air in any of the steering fluid lines.
