Question about BMW 525

1 Answer

I have a BMW 525i whose alarm goes off on its own and flashes lights. This results in an annoying drained battery every time. The guys at the garage say it is the passenger side lock and actuator but i don't want to replace and it turns out to have been the wrong thing....any advice?

Why not ask them to disconnect the lock actuator and leave the door panel off(to check alarm)if it does not go off, then you have not wasted you money,if it does, you can give the service manager some heavy grief...... but smile when you swear at him.

How change battery of 2002 525i key

Try to check if all doors are close properly and also check the battery of the remote of your alarm because if the door is not close properly the alarm will not turn off.

97 bmw 528i factory alarm goes off for no reason

disable the hood microswitch. just unplug it. That and the cabin sensor are the most probably reasons the alarm will go off.
Alarms are useless. Totally effin useless. So it goes off.....then whaddya going to do. Shoot someone? Call the police? or listen to it drain the battery over and over again.
But....you can't disable the alarm totally. The bmw engineers have tied it into the main computer. you can however disable the sensors one by one so it doesn't set off the alarm. Hood sensor....Hood sensor....that's the culprit.
