Tap into the wiring harness leading to the brake lights on the truck with your camper brakes.I would solder a plug between the wires so that I could unplug it. go to your fuses and replace brake fuse with a 5amp larger fuse.

Good Morning, I have seen this done and done this same thing before. Normally you will just tie into your bake light at the tail light depending on how it (the camper) is set up. You could also tie into the one into the third brake light. I hope this helps you out it really isn't bad. If you have any more questions pleae feel free to let m know.
Thanks,
Joey

With a test light check if you have power there with lights on and with lights off, compare left side with right side as far as location in the tail lamp plug for the tail lamp park lights.Trace the harness back to the left side underneath usual corrosion in this area.

How heavy or big does a pop up tent camper need to be to need electric brakes ??? wired to a 6 cylinder car... also why does my 2005 dodge dakota v8 only get 9.9 miles per gallon had a new tune up...

if it 'legally' needs brakes, it should have come with them. the question really be, do you feel comfortable towing it without them? if not, i would definately install them, or hook them up if they are already there!!!

No brake lights only one above rear window and on camper shell

I recently had the same issue in my '05 Silverado... I believed it was something more dire, but it turned out that i just needed to replace the taillight bulbs. After getting stopped twice by cops within a month's time i figured it was at least worth a try to replace the $5 bulbs before spending hundreds on a mechanic to do it for me.

I have a '05 Ford Ranger. I bought a camper shell that has a Third Brake Light and I would like to hook it up so it works when I apply the brakes. Hooking the camper shell 3rd Brake lights to the p/u brake...

there will be four wires going to your lights you will have to test each wire to see which wire is for the brake light and tap into that wire. on all ford rangers one bulb controls everything so you can't just hook it up thru your bulb so you will have to hookit up thru your wires. it's not that difficult but you will have to have a helping hand. and test till you find the one for the brakes only.

2001 Dodge Dakota Trailer Brake Wiring

Call dealer & ask them to run your vin# to see if it came with towing package. They shouldn't mind. If not, you'll have to wire it in yourself.
