When starting my 2002 tundra, V-8 engine it sometimes just clicks or turns over very slow and other times starts right up, warm or cold. I checked the battery, and battery connection and all was good..

Check the connections to the battery, that they are shiny and clean and wire brush vigorously, if necessary at the contact points.

Remove the negative cable first.

Thank you sir for your response. You suggestion on the battery cables was the 1st thing I did(cleaned with bat. connection brush) and a "hydro" check of the battery. The battery checked out good but still the clicking and slow turnover continued but only occasionally. I'm wondering if theres a starter cylinode somewhere or only on the starter????

Usually the solenoid is on the starter nowadays, so if that is bad, the whole starter is changed, customarily.

In addition, I would get an ammeter to see how much of an amperage draw there is when trying to start the pickup.

If the amperage draw is like 75 to 110 amps and it starts ok, then the starter is ok.
If, however, it draws that much, and it doesn't turnover rapidly, the starter motor is likely to be bad.
If it draws only 1 or 2 amps and it doesn't turn over, it's the solenoid, but in most cases the solenoid is on the starter, so still have to change the starter.

If my jag has been sitting for more than 24 hours the first time I try to start the engine takes maybe 8 or 9 cranks before it will start, after this she starts quickly.

Sounds like the engine oil is quite thick when cold so you probably need to check the last time the oil was changed along with the filter.once it gets slightly warm the engine takes less cranking amps to turn over so it will start quicker.

I have a 1987 ranger 2.3 EFI and sometimes it will not start when it's cold. after it warms up outside it starts. When it does start it runs great. It always starts when warm. some times it will

Timing belt being off one tooth will not cause this problem but rather loss of power and hard starting all the time,

in the cold it will not start, the engine will spin but wont fire is this correct?

There are many things that can cause this, a little testing will be needed, the first thing that comes to mind with the ford and cold weather is the coolant temp sensor, it give computer a false reading and can cause hard starting or even no start, a scan tool would be helpful to see what temp it is give computer.
The best way to narrow this down to to check for spark when it wont start, a weak coil in cold weather will cause this problem or bad coil wire to cap, but if you can see if it has spark and let me know,
another test is to check fuel pressure, to see if it is getting fuel, and the fuelpump relay,

Let me know if it has spark or fuel when is does not start, good day

KIA Sportage Diesel Automatic will not start when warm but starts when hot or cold

happened to me with the kia sportage. slow to start when hot.

check and clean your battery connections/terminals. some dirt/corrosion at the battery terminals dries up when hot, providing some resistance to the wire connections and slows down the turn over of your starter. clean this up by removing terminals, and cleaning it with sandpaper and water.

check/restart engine particularly when hot. if this does not work, have your starter bushings checked. these bushings when hot has a lot of friction slowing the starter turn over. sometimes the bushings are worn out.

you may have a bad,or going bad starter. when you attempt to start it cold, does it turn over real slow? this can be 2 different issues. either a bad or weak battery,or starter dragging. simple to diagnose. take you car to auto zone or advance auto parts and have them check your battery for free 1st. if it checks good, then go towards a bad starter. the starter can drag,or turn really slow when it's going bad. almost like a drained battery. but after the engines warm,it turns over just fine. narror your search by ruling out a bad battery by having the battery checked for free 1st. then move towards replacing the starter. thank you for choosing fixya.com

Vibration at idle

it may be idle control sensor or a bad mas air flow sensor--maf sensor in otherwords. or could be engine misfire at cold temp. start. only time when cold? or does run better when warm? try warming engine to operating temperature before driving,if problem removes it's self after warm up,up grade gas to 93 octane for 1 tank full. then see if problem goes away. it's cold where you are right? if so the fuel needs to be at least midgrade 89 octane fuel because 87 octane fuel will not start your honda correctly at cold temps. in cold weather 93 or super gas octane will start ,no problem, low octane fuel sometimes gels, or freezes at low temps. if in warm climate, change the fuel filter, add fuel injector cleaner to your fuel tank[preferablly lucas fuel treatment] this will lube your fuel injectors and give better fuel mileage. thank you for choosing fixya.com

The problem is the starter solenoid. It will steadily get worse until it just won't start anymore. The solenoid has corrosion between the contacts. When you turn the key the contacts are not making connection. The corrosion will get a little worse each time you crank it.
