The RPM sensor is the Revolutions Per Minute of the crankshaft sensor. It is also called a Crank Sensor and also a Crank Position Sensor on some applications. However, some RPM signals are often taken from the Camshaft Sensor. Either way, RPM is short for Revolutions Per Minute..

Car boggs down when i accelerate

Sometimes this is a crankshaft position sensor problem. The sensor helps regulate fuel pressure by monitoring RPM. If this sensor under reads your RPM, then you will not get enough fuel for the RPM.

Where is the crankshaft position/crank angle sensor located on a 2005 kia sedona

Hi, at the front of the crankshaft. if its near time for the timing belt, you want to replace it along with any pullies, tensioner and water pump

The crankshaft position sensor is mounted on the engine near the crankshaft.

Operation

The crankshaft position sensor is a Hall-Effect sensor that senses the crank angle (piston position) of each cylinder and converts it into a pulse signal. The signal from the sensor is relayed to the ECM to indicate engine rpm and the position of the crankshaft.

Removal & Installation

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Disconnect the connector from the sensor.
  3. Remove the bolt that retains the sensor in place.
  4. Remove the sensor from its mounting. To install:
    1. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
    2. Clearance between the sensor and the sensor wheel should be 0.020-0.059 inch. 2002-2005
      1. Properly connect the scan tool.
      2. Start the engine and allow it to idle.
      3. Be sure the idle position switch is ON.
      4. Specifications are as follows:

Temperature - 4°F, test specification 1500-1700 RPM Temperature 32°F, test specification 1350-1550 RPM Temperature 68°F, test specification 1200-1400 RPMTemperature 104°F, test specification 1000-1200 RPM Temperature 176°F, test specification 650-850 RPM

Power at engine module and power to good coil packs but no spark

Sounds like a bad crank sensor or a bad ignition module. If you have a scanner that can read sensor data, you can crank the engine over and see if there is an "RPM" reading. If there is an RPM reading, then the crank sensor is good...Throw the module away. If there is no RPM, replace the crank sensor.

My 1997 Chrysler Concord idles at 2500 to 3000 rpm when first started and when it warms a little it idles at 2000 rpm and stays there. When I start it right after I turn it off, it starts at 2500 rpm then...

Maybe a short to the TPS or something shorting it out. There's also the IAC that really controls the idle but usually it will cause the RPM's to go up and down a little erratic if bad. The MAF sensor can cause major problems as well but since you already swapped the TPS and it helped and then stopped I would focus on that sensor and especially it's wiring to and from the ECM. Be careful with the sensor signal wire to the ECM can blow it if more than 5v passes or spikes.

I've been getting an ignition sensor failure/faulty connection diagnostic error (P0320) on my 2004 Hyundai Sonata v4 ever since I replaced the ignition coils, plugs and plug wires a few weeks ago. Also,...

code p 0320 refers to crankshaft position sensor (CKP)/ engine speed (RPM) sensor --circuit malfunction===causes wiring---CKP/RPM sensor--ECM
from your statement of moving coil wires and it temporarily fixed the fault , I suspect wiring failure to the tacho( RPM sensor) as the RPM sensor works of coil impulses
by moving wires you may be altering the circuit fault for the CKP sensor
take it to an accredited service center for a proper diagnosis

Oil light comes on at very low rpm

It IS NOT Advisable to Drive this Vehicle Untill This Problem is AT LEIST DIAGNOSED, You Need A MANUAL OIL Pressure TEST, to Determine If OIL PRUSSURE is SAFE @ >>Oil Pressure at idle speed with engine at operating temp.min. bar 0.5 Regulated Pressure bar 4.3
If it Is ok First On List Is Oil Pressure Sensor But if it's Low> Replace
Oil PUMP
Obviously Inspect Wires To Sensor / Sensors Before High Dollar Parts Are Resorted to.
