OK will try to replace this weekend..

TBI not outputing gas so .. how can I measure gas pressure at the TBI to see if gas pressure regulator (12 psi) is working? So I need to make a T fitting where the metal fuel line (supply) connects to the rubber one to hook in my pressure gauge about 10 inches away from the TBI ? How do I disconnect the metal to rubber fitting / wrench? thanks

  • rwolsen Sep 03, 2010

they have a 1/4 inch nylon T in the fuel pressure gauge kit i bought so I may hook up a temporary
hook-in to see my pressure (abt 12 psi). There is no fuel coming out the TBI but it runs a little with starter spray. I put a rebuilt TBI in but still no fix. If fuel pressure is OK then it has to be electronics./sensor. thanks

Hello! Your last comment sheds more light on the question...I would hold off on replacing the Crank Sensor...
The fault (no fuel) is more than likely a defective Throttle Positioning Sensor (TPS) or a Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor...Also, the correct fuel pressure is 40.5 - 47 PSI...I would also hold off on the gauge installation...
If you have a voltmeter You can "test" the TPS and MAP...Rather then spending $$...

The TPS is bolted to the throttle body...It has a 3 wire connector...Wire colors are...Gray...Dark Blue...And Black...Using two safety pins, push one into the rear of the in-place connector on the Dark Blue wire until it bottoms out against the internal connector pin...The other into the Black wire...Set meter to read less than 5 volts...Place +meter probe on Dark Blue...And - probe on Black...Turn the key to on...meter must read less than 1 volt (.85)...Move pin and meter lead from Dark Blue to the Gray wire...Must read +5 volts...

The MAP is also on the throttle body...3 wire connector...Wire colors are...Gray...Purple/White..And Purple...Same technique...Pin with + probe into Purple/White And - pin and probe into Purple...Turn key on...Record reading...Move + pin and probe to Gray...And record reading...Send results...Saailer

The crank sensor is behind the engine, near the transmission, about half way up the side of the block.
It is not easy to see if I remember right.
It is near the knock sensor, above the oil filter.

I believe it is on the block where it widens out for the bellhousing. Remember that the sensor has to point at the flywheel. But I keep getting confused with the 6 cylinder and other models, so I have difficulty remembering exactly.
However, you should see it from underneath if you have it up on jackstands.

All fuel injection always has a port built in for checking fuel pressure.
Generally you just have to remove a screw plugging the test port/
However, it has been a long time since I worked on a 90 Corsica, so I can't tell you exactly where it is.
But you are correct that you would have to make sure you were not causing a dead end in what is supposed to be a continuous loop circuit, or else the fuel pump would be over worked and you would not be testing the pressure regulator at the end of the loop.

Sorry, I was wrong. There probably is no easy fuel pressure test port after all.
    They sell an adapter though.

I don't remember the type of fitting used on the 90 Corsica, but it is probably either a normal flared fitting with a nut, or the OCT type connector that requires a special release tool.
Here is a link to a GM OTC tool.
