SOURCE: flashing oil light/ loss of power

Check your converter on your exhaust when it's running and see if the noise of rattling is coming from there. If it is you have a plugged converter,it's broken up and in piece's which will make noise and no power especially when calling for power.Be sure to let exhaust cool before repair is done.If the engine is making the noise like a knocking sound you should bring it to have it checked.Hope this help's.

Driving along lights dimmed, instrument panel died, loss of power then engine cut out & wouldn't start. Starts with a jump but when i turn key to heat glow plug, instrument panel goes mad

I assume there's a problem with alternator. Check the grounding to engine, check continuity of a positive wire between alternator and battery. the energizing voltage should be checked as well. Might be the bad connection between battery and vehicle body grounding. Diesel cars are sensitive even in a little loss of connection and rust in the connection points.

Truck will not start, seems completely dead electronically. There is a red dot on in the upper right quadrant of the dash board.

battery read 12.6v? if not its dead or discharged.
jump start it. or charge it.
if the battery reads correct.
check fusess.
if the dash check engine lamp is not glowing key on,that
is a sure sign the ECU/PCM has no 12v power, at all.
if the head lights are dead, always fix that first.
as head lights are HOT 24/7, all the time.
and prove , total loss of power.

When car engine is switched off. while using radio the low battery sign comes on

Absolutely normal ... the light tells you that you are using more power than you are making. The motor is not running, so the alternator is not running. As such, you are running the battery down by doing this ... so there is a net power loss to the battery ... the red light warns you of this effect.

While driving, successive loss of power culminating in the engine dying. Lights still working but engine would not start. After 5 minutes everyhing dead. 1 hour later engine starts and works for less...

Sounds like it could possibly be a bad alternator if all the cables are tight and started out with a good battery. Do you have a battery or red charge light? Or, alternatively, is there an absence of this light when the car ignition is on, but the car has not yet been started?

Good luck on this repair.

Not cold out, battery light on with loss of power

Battery light ON means either battery not charging (alternator stopped working) or battery not accepting charge (dead cells in battery-need replacing).

However, your power steering ALSO works on a belt system. Check the alternator belt and the power steering belt. They may be the same one, or they may be separate.

Hope this helps.
