The brake light on my 2008 Nissan Altima began to appear from time to time, staying on longer each time. Now it is on constantly. I have had the brake fluid checked and it is fine. I still have about 50%...

Hi

Check the brake fluid float level sensor.

It might be stuck to low position, thus it signaling the brake light to turn on.

The float sensor is inside the brake master reservoir, a white rounded thing that usually attach to the cap and have a wire connection. It is activated by magnetic switch sensor.

Try to pull it out and check if it slides downward and upward.

Hope that helps you out!

Thanks for using Fixya!

'97 nissan altima, brake lights not working, wire

Lets keep it simple if the wiring harness is in good condition lets not look at that... first check your fuse if the fuse is good... check for power... if you have power coming and going from the fuse then check your brake switch ( located under the dash) attached to brake pedal. Please make sure your light bulbs are both good also. If your brake light switch is good and you have tried everything else it is either going to be in your 4 way switch or wiring harness

97 Altima dashboard brake light stays on

Check your brake fluid level in the engine compartment. Its located on the rear RH side of the engine compartment, its a white/clear resevoir connecting to a large black circular object. If the fluid is low, fill to proper level, also I would recommend having your brake system checked as there may be a leak. If the fluid is fine and at the proper level, you may have a damaged/broken brake fluid level sensor or damaged/broken Emergency brake switch. Hopefully this helps....please rate thanks!!

1998 nissan altima break fluid and battery lite keeps coming on. also hear a belt slipping noise in the engine. only has 42,000 miles

possibly separate issues...there is a float in the brake reservoir that will detect low fluid..low fluid is usually a sign of wearing brake pads as the fluid displaces this wear and lowers the level in the reservoir. A slipping belt will cause battery charging issues as the alternators slips too much and wont chrage sufficiently.run charging system diagnostic and ensure all belts/tensioners and alternator to be performing correctly...good luck

Nissan Altima 1995 Brake Light swith staying on

I know this is outdated but for those with this problem which i had too, it is a rubber stopper that attaches to the brake pedel itself to keep the switch depressed on my car for there is 2 switches and there is 2 rubber stops attached to the brake pedal. this being gone will cause the brake lights to stay on all the time.
