You could have the anti-theft system called passlock system which can cause this, otherwise it would be an ignition problem and lastly a computer problem. Do you have an anti-theft light that is on or flashing when you try and start the car>

    Try reprogramming the key

Insert the key that you would like to program into your car's ignition and turn the key to the "On" position.

      2

Leave the key in the "On" position for 10 minutes and turn
the key to the "Off" position once the security light in the car turns
      off.

      3

Turn the key back to the "On" position, wait another 10 minutes and return the key to the "Off" position.

      4

Turn the key to the "On" position for the third time, wait 10 minutes again and turn the key "Off."

      5

Remove the key from the ignition and the reprogramming of the key will be completed and ready for use.

Also check all your battery cables and make sure they are not corroded at the connections on starter or battery and cables are tight.

That is a strange one, but the first place I would look is the signal
flasher unit. That is the culprit 99% of the time when you have no
signal lights. There are 2 flasher units, one for the signals, one for
the hazards. They are both under the drivers side above your feet.
You can also pull the daytime running light delay module out and the car should start.

There is a fuse in your fuse box that you can take out and it will
disable the lights. It's either fuse # 2,5,15,22, or 23. The little
green light in the upper left portion of your instrument panel will
still operate as if the lights have never been de-activated. It will
stay lit until you manualy turn your headlights on, then it will go out.

If you want to get to the module itself, it looks like this

    It is here:

  • Anonymous Sep 02, 2010

yes the green light should turn on if it has one. not all of them have the light.

  • Anonymous Sep 02, 2010

Have you tried putting the key in the ignition and turn to the on position (do not start)
Leave in on position for exactly 10 minutes. Then try starting the car?
That is about the only other thing I can tell you.
If computer is new, ignition module is new, crankshaft position sensor is good, wire from ignition module to solenoid is good, and batter cable connections on both ends are clean and tight, I honestly don't know what that would be and I have been a mechanic for 11 years!

  • Anonymous Sep 02, 2010

It does sound like an ignition switch problem (not module but the switch itself) or computer.

  • Anonymous Sep 02, 2010

The trick is to leave it on for EXACTLY 10 minutes. If anything else, try wiggling the key in the ignition. Hopefully it's not shorted.

  • Anonymous Sep 02, 2010

I sincerely wish you the best of luck! I wish I could help your further but am completely out of ideas.

  • Anonymous Sep 02, 2010

You can always repost your question and try and let another expert help you if you'd like. I feel bad, I really want to help but just out of ideas and none of my other mechanic buddies are awake right now to ask.

  • Anonymous Sep 02, 2010

Same to you! Best of luck!

Why did car die while driving on Interstate and will not start back up

When the engine dies all the lights on the dash should come ! It's when the engine is still running an those lights come is when you need to worry ! You need to check for spark an fuel pressure. If no spark probably an ignition module , crankshaft position sensor or distributer module , what ever ignition system it has. If there is spark spray some carburetor clean into the engine , if it try's to start you have a fuel delivery problem , fuel pump , relay ! No Start Diagnostic Basics EricTheCarGuy
