So you are buying junk parts, or you really dont have a Alternaor problem? Have the charging system checked out by a Qualified Reapair Shop NOT the guy at the parts store selling you these wonderful parts. They will want to verfiy that the Alternaotor and Battery are indeed good/bad and check all connections, terminals, and ground points. If these are all good , then they need to find out what is going on.

The car was taken to chevy garage they are the ones that said battery was no good first so i bought a die hard, after that the car ran until the battery went dead,I took it back they said altenator was shot they replaced it,i recharged the battery overnite, started car again soon as battery went dead car quit,I took it back they said that the altenator was defective three times it was changed,So i took the car home and parked it after spending a ton of money at dealer, not junk cheap parts,i just thought someone may have had this same problem

So its still under warranty ..right. Take it back and explai to the SERVICE MANAGER that you brought you car into them to be fixed and its still not fixed. Going to Sears to buy a battery wasnt the best thing to do after they told you the battery was bad. You should keep with the shop that told you the battery was bad. That makes you appear cheap an dmaybe you are. But if the Alternator is charging, then the battery cant go dead while its running. So take it back and tell them its still not fixed, and dont be in a rush, leave it as long as it takes to get it fixed right.

I put in a new battery and drove for about 30 minutes and all over sudden the car lost power. Why is this problem?

Sounds to me the altenator has gone bad.
Needs to be changed out. You can also test it by putting a meter on the battery to see if altenator is charging.

Why is my 04 kia not running. Every time I turn the key it keeps clicking

Your battery is low/dead. Charge or replace the battery. Maybe your altenator has died or the belt is loose on it and has caused your battery to die. Also possible that the battery's cables are loose and do not allow the altenator to charge it.

What could cause an altenator not to get power

Alternators give charge not get a charge. Check that you have connected up the wires to the alternator correctly. Check drive belt for tension and condition. If it still will not charge have a qualified auto electrician check it over.

Saab 93 1.9 tid warning battery not charging car died whilst driving charged battery at home car now starting lights all out is this battery prob or alternator?

The easiest way to check is with the car running, disconnect the positve side of the battery, if the car dies, then it is the altenator, if the car keeps running then it is the battery. If you have a volt ohm meter, check the chrge going to the battery you should get between 12 and 14 volts if it is lower than 12 you have an altenator issue. the altenator should always produce enough to charge the battery and run the car at the same time, if not then the battery wears down.

My 1987 dodge w 150 wont hold a charge ive changed the alernator battery as well as the voltage regulator. when i charge the battery it holds a charge for about 5 to 6 starts

Could be a short. Have you checked the voltage at the battery with the car running? Is it over 14 volts?

Please see my tip at http://www.fixya.com/cars/r5925550-dead_battery_troubleshooting . These are generic instructions. If you get stuck or need specific instructions for your car, please get back to me with model, year and engine info.

Battery died (or not). When I give it a jump, the car starts, but as soon I remove the jump cable, car turns off.. What could be the issue>

Your issue is indicating two problems. First let's talk about how your charge system works so that you can see what happened. The battery is there to start the engine. At the point the engine starts, the alternator takes over and provides power to the engine and also charges the battery for the next time you start your car. If the alternator fails to work, the engine runs solely off the battery. The car should have indicated that the charge system is not working, maybe you saw a battery light on your dashboard. After some time, the battery is depleted and will not start the car or be able to run the engine. So it appears that you have a defective alternator, and also your battery is either discharged, or is also bad. When you hook up your car to jumper cables, you are running off of your buddy's charge system/battery, so when you disconnect them, your car dies.

1995 Jeep wrangler not charging properly

lf you have replacement cable ends on your battery, check that wires are not corroded under the straps. Also check alternator ground (run a ground wire directly to the alt case) I have seen "lazy" regulators at times but this is very rare. Also make sure drivebelt is tight enough to prevent slipping. Has your battery been charged and load tested?

Battery charges when idling but not at speed. 81 datsun

This sounds like the altenator belt is loose. When the altenator is under a load the magnetic field causes the altenator to require more fource to rotate. At higher engine rpms the belt can be slipping on the altenator pulley. There is one other possibility I can think of and that would be that the voltage regulator is faulty and and causing an overvoltage at higher engine speeds and therfore opening up the field circuit to prevent the altenator from over charging the battery this is a safety function of the regulator. I would check the belt first.

well Marie the reason your vehicle is acting this way is because even though you put new battery in you still have to have a viable altenator to run the vehicle. the battery is only used to start the vehicle and run the radio and lights and other accessories. while the vehicle is running the altenator is not only suppose to charge the battery but it is suppose to supply the amprage to energize and coolapse the coil to give the vehicle spark. a bad altenator while driving doesn't charge the battery it drains it . a quick check is to have the vehicle running and then remove the positive battery cable if it dies you know it's the altenator.... please rate this and good luck keep me posted
