Question about Mitsubishi Lancer

2 Answers

Have been told that I need to change the Air Conditioner compressor in my 2004 Lancer. Have got no cold air coming through the car when i turn the Air Con on and have just recently been told that I would need to replace the compressor and they would need to look for any blockages which could porve expensive. Mind you this was from Mitsubishi. What is involved in getting this fixed and what is the cost involved?

Do you know how they determined that your compressor needed replacing? Please advise

I put my Car in for a service and asked them to look at my Air Con as there was no cold air. I originally thought it was the gas bottle, but that was refilled. Not sure how they determined as this is what i was told by them.

Well, let's just say that they are correct - and the compressor is bad. Typically, when a compressor goes bad, pieces of it are pumped through the entire system. It has to be dismantled completely, and all components (Condenser, Evaporator, Expansion valve, hoses...) need cleaning, flushing and inspection. Other components need replacing (such as the dryer, compressor, O-Rings, sometimes the expansion valve itself).

The costs can run from $600 - $2000 depending where you are.

You should find out exactly why and how they determined your compressor went bad. I would.

Have you tried just getting it regassed

Yep, it's been regassed but still not working. Was told that it's the compressor and potentially a blockage through the system.

2004 sebring air conditioner stops and starts

Low freon will cause the compressor to short cycle, when the compressor runs the pressure in the low line is pulled down and the low pressure switch turns it off. Not running the pressure builds up and turns it back on. In the old days there was no low pressure switch, with no freon to carry the oil the compressor was destroyed.

I have a 2004 lancer . My air con works on cold, but than in an instant pumps hot air. I have had it re gassed and had the relay switch changed. What more can I do

it sounds like the ac compressor is on the fritz, you will probably have to get a new one then have the system vacuumed out completely and the recharged and oiled. it could also have a leak in the line some were.

Problem with heating and air conditioning. The driver's side is blowing hot air and the passenger side is blowing cold air

Air Conditioner blows warm air
  1. Air conditioner system is discharged. Have the system evacuated, charged and leak tested by an MVAC certified technician, utilizing approved recovery/recycling equipment. Repair as necessary.
  2. Air conditioner compressor clutch not engaging. Check compressor clutch wiring, electrical connections and compressor clutch, and repair or replace as necessary.

How to troubleshoot the electrical air conditioning system 2000 GMC Yukon Denali. I put in new resistor, relay and dealer blower motor and it still doesn't do anything. Air conditioning control switch...

The compressor on the air conditioner in my 2000 GMC Yukon XL went out last summer. Had it and the whole line replaced at a local air conditioning shop last fall. Used it little before cold weather. Warm weather this spring and no cold air. We could hear the compressor trying to kick in. The shop told us that the control console was bad and had to be replaced. They told us the part was on back order and did not know if they would be abel to get one any time soon. We took the Yukon into the local GM dealership. They told us that the high side fitting was bad and that the freon was very low and that they would have to deal with that first to check the system. Called back to the air conditioning shop and they said they had a console come in and they would put it in and check the high side fitting. I now have cold air and questions. Bought Yukon in 2005 used, had always had problem of not switching to cold air once the heater has been used. We were told changing the console should fix that. It has not changed. I feel like the console angle was a scam, that the system was just low on freon. Each shop was blaming the other for trying to scam me. And what can fix the heat to cold issue? If anyone has answers I would sure appreciate the knowledge.

On my 2004 lancer es the air conditioning works ice cold intermittenly then goes warm. I turn it off and it will come back on cold and work for a while longer. Ihave had the system checked and it is...

i just switched out my compressor today after over a year of my air doing this until it finally went out....(it only blew hot air). Replacing the compressor seemed to work. it is pricey though. dealership charges and arm and a leg. (i think the quoted the compressor at like 1000 not including labor.) my knobs are also messing up, but the one that switched from regular air to defrost. they only sell the knobs in a pack of 3 and are charging 300 for that....but i say good luck!!! its pricey...they shoulda recalled the cars. this is a very common problem i have been seeing. all they wanna do is make money off of it.
anyways the new compressor seems to be working.
