Yes it could be the thermostat or the water pump, but the fact it cooled down with the heater means it is probably not the water pump.
Besides, the thermostat is not very expensive and easy to do, so worth doing even if it something worse actually.
Here is it $50, but it should be less somewhere:

Either is possible
to check the pump just remove the rad cap and watch flow
additionally, when the stat opens flow should increase

have a pressure test done on the fuel manifold to check for pump-regulator pressure and filter performance. You state that the filter was last changed in 2007 so it is well past it's blocked up date .. Run fault codes . replace the canister . Have a compression test done as the engine is getting long in the tooth and may need refreshing .. Check that the cat converter is still operational as they will block up the exhaust system and cause poor performance

98 Deville had a dead batt. Replaced, turns over but wont start

Sounds like fuel issue, remove the black plastic cadillac cover on the top of the engine, then find the fuel rail on top, and remove the black tire cap looking thing on the end of the fuel rail. Now you will have to get a fuel pressure guage ($45), and screw it on right there. Or you can also just poke that little valve with a ink pen to see if any fuel squirts out, it should come out with alot of force, it is like a valve on a bicycle, it only lets fuel out when you push on the valve ***. As for the battery being dead perhaps you left your parking lights on? My 97 deville, had a cold start problem, that it took 5 minutes of cranking off and on, to get it cold started, but after it was running it would start throughout the day just fine. I ended up replacing the fuel pump in the tank, and the fuel filter on the rail.

I just bought a used jaguar 2007 XJ8L and than I got full service with possibely covered everthing it's 51,000 mile. I just took off from parking lot of dealer and not even 2 mile and its said...

I don't know that I would worry too much. When serviced, they may have left something unplugged. They may be able to take care of this in just a few minutes tomorrow morning. If it turns out to be something bigger, let me know. Beautiful cars!

Our 2006 jaguar s type R stall sometimes when pulling into parking lots at idle. when we turn left and over a bump it stalls. not all the time , but often. we use the best gas and added injector...

There are no computers used to diagnose any vehicle
Scanners --look at the same data, your vehicles processor sees

Injector Cleaner --10 oz in 18 gallons of fuel, not
much going to happen there

When you turn --something happens, think power
steering position switch,if it applies.

The Dealer is waiting for the warrantee to run out

You never, ever go to any dealer, after warrantee,
local shop,cheaper,more honest,better results

P1000 problem loss of power after 10 minutes

P1000 is not really a fault code, if there are no there are no other codes stored then perform the following:

Disconnect the positive terminal on the battery, hold the terminal to the chassis for 2 - 3 seconds, this defuses the ecu and drains stored data thus clearing P1000.

Now wait 10 minutes.

Then reconnect battery.

Start car *without touching gas pedal*

Leave car idling for a good 5 - 10 minutes then jump in and go on a minimum 12 mile drive, you will need to perform a few normal driving conditions, fast, slow, stop, pull away etc so just a normal day to day trip to the town would suffice.

Hopefully this will sort it, if not report back

Regards

Lloyd
