2001 chevy S-10 pickup parking brake will not stay down

I too, have had problems with my '01 s10 parking brake. This brake is not like other vehicals. The regular brake pedal needs to be pressed down before the parking brake can stay down. Same with it being released. It is explained more clearly in your owners manual. Hope this helps! Please rate 4 thumbs up!

Dumb question, How do I release parking brake on 88 DeVille? Thought there would be a lever somewhere but I can't find one Also, I've been told it needs premium gas. Is this true?

You have a car that was built withh all the bells and whistles you know. The emergency parking brake is not so sophisticated at all. Cadillac installed a vacuum pod to the release actuating lever which conjoins to the shift bowl. When you aplly your foot on the brake to shift the emergency brakes will release automaticly. If it will not release, the vacuum pod is at fault & will need a replacement. They are inexpensive at any Cadillac dealerships parts department.

Parking brake cable broke, 94 chevy s10 stuck, how do you release emergency brake and do i fix it

If it broke it should have released itself, the system is a simple cabel pully system, if its broken the cable cant have the tension to keep the brake engadged. if you want to release the handel pull the release and physicaly move the pedal.

Parking brake won't release

Try pushing down on the parking brake while pulling on the release handle.Downward pressure may make the release handle easier to pull.Good luck,

98 S10 5 speed. How do I get rid my daytime running lights, I have already removed 2 fuses that are supposed to controll them but they still come on when I release the parking brake, I dont want to cut...

If you set your parking brake to the first "click" or as soon as the pedal catches, it will turn off the DRL's but not actually engage the brake. Make sure you stop at the very first point the emergency brake pedal will stay down.
