Question about 2001 Mazda Millenia

2 Answers

2001 Mazda Millenia - The check engine light came on shortly after I put gas in it for the first time (just bought it used about 2 weeks ago). I took it to an auto parts store to get it diagnosed and was told it was the knock sensor. Is it possible I put the wrong grade fuel in it? Do I need to replace the knock sensor? What is the recommended octane for 2001 Mazda Millenia?

I have half a tank of gas left in the car right now. Could I add a booster to the tank I'm working with right now, then put the correct fuel in next time I put gas in it?

The first step to solve one "check engine" turn on is scanned the PCM to know excatly what fault code is there. If the autoparts make this work, they muts tell you the this date or code number, with this info we could send other details about what part replace (only if is necessary).

Keep in touch.

Yes. The knock sensor detects detonations - the detonations are caused by a poor quality fuel or one with lower than needed CO (like Regular instead of Super). The recommended CO is 95 but the car will accept 92. If you use fuel with CO90 for long or CO85 or lower for any period the engine will be damaged.
Take out all the fuel in the tank and replace it with a good one and add a good CO booster additive with this tank. If the problem doesn't go away after you run the car for over 50 miles of gentle driving (no flooring) then the sensor has been damaged and will have to be replaced

Yes, but add 2 cans of additive, you don't know how bad that fuel was.

Check engine light/2001 Mazda Millenia

The check engine light comes on when there is a problem with your engine and throws a code which it then stores. That code can be "read" by an OBDI/OBDII scanner and should give you the info you need. If it was scanned and the codes "read" the check engine light should of been re-set. If your car is running well have your mechanic re-set it; if it comes on again take it and have it checked again. No system is fool proof and there may still be a problem. Hope this helps.

go to autozone & check the code for free mazda millenia they all have problem with the check engine light problem even though you bought all new parts it will still show , but never replace the cat converter most cause the engine light is the sensor only.
