You have a faulty blower motor resistor. This unit is usually located near the blower motor under the passenger side dash. It controls the fan speed for a/c-heater etc. They cost around $25-$80 depending on your model.

No, your problem isn't a fuse. I had a similar issue with a Honda Civic many years ago. I simply replaced the blower motor and all was fine. In my case, the speed controller was build right into the motor so once that was replaced all worked. The repair wasn't too complicated. I needed to remove the glove box and then the motor came out pretty easily. Hopefully, this gives you some insight into your problem.

Looking a bit further into this for your vehicle :
http://www.autohausaz.com/search/group.aspx?sid=vnk4jbbjp4xxgly5mnx0xmnq&makeid=67@Nissan&modelid=6688~49~934~253~~5~8@Frontier SE &year=1999&cid=13@HVAC
You might need to cut and paste this link (I selected the 6cylinder model too), but it seems that it could also be the HVAC Blower motor resister. I personally have used AZAutoHaus many times and they are by FAR my most favorite online parts distributor. Excellent prices and good service. Even if you purchase both parts (the blower motor and the resister), you're just over $100 and they ship for free.

Remember, I selected the 6 cylinder model when I was looking for parts. Please remember to change this for your specific 99 Frontier model!

If this has helped please give me the appropriate 'thumbs up'. Thanks, and good luck!

Missing the owners manual for 1986 accord need to locate which fuse is for cooling fan under dash. have already checked ones under hood

ooh that is and oldie....

the heater blower fan is dead, ?
this car is wired (im looking in alldata dot com now)
gets 12v power from the IGNITION at all times. so there is no
blower fuse. (if the fan shorts, the engine fuse blows. and engine dies.
the current passes thru motor, and then to the dash speed switch
and on level 4 there is no resistor, so must run, here, (does it?)
then the switch is grounded.
so if engine runs.
and speed 4 fails, it can only be.
1: bad ground to switch.
2:bad wires.
3 :bad switch,
4: bad fan, (hot wire fan does it work,. yes, good its good.

id put my DMM across the fan , turn it on, and if 12vdc is across said fan, and it dont blow, its a bad fan.
if the low side of fan is not 0v, all times. the ground is bad.
if the 12v never reaches the fan, then the path on that side is bad.

Question:If the 30 A. fuse on a 2002 focus dash blower motor is good, and the thermal resistor is replaced, then it must be a faulty speed switch?

Don't know where you got your info . The heater blower motor electrical B+ power comes from Fuse F 64 a 40 amp fuse . This goes right to the blower motor on the green with orange stripe wire , The black with red stripe wire goes to the switch for high speed . There is Splice 24 that ties into the black with red stripe wire. The splice 24 turns into a black with orange stripe wire . An this wire goes to the blower motor resistor . All the switch does is route the B+ voltage through the different resistors to ground .

Thermal resistor "usually" stops working is because of faulty fan speed switch ???? Totally not true , resistor assemblies fail because of the heat associated with dropping voltage across the resistors , That is why they put the resistor assembly in the air box . Air blows over to cool the resistors . The switch is nothing more then a way to direct different speeds to ground .

Rather then listening to other people ,why not learn the right way to test electrical circuits .
Electric Testing Techniques You Need to Know

Do you know what a wiring diagram is ?
http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html Enter vehicle info . Under system click on HVAC , under subsystem click on heater . Click the search button , then on the link . Use a volt meter an test , don't guess !

Heater blower stopped working?

Hello,
You may want to try your fan on all speeds. If it will work on high, you have a bad resistor for the fan motor. ( high speed doesn't go through the resistor ).
If it doesn't work on any speed, I would check the following;
1. Make sure the fuse isn't blown for the fan blower motor.
2. Check, or have checked the wires between the fan control switch and the fan blower motor.
3. Have the fan control switch checked.
4. Have the fan blower motor checked.

I hope this helps you.

2005 gmc sierra heater fan quit working. I lost the fifth speed months ago and a couple of days ago lost the other four, the first day the fan would come on sometimes while driving then quit after a while...

1-4 speed are the blower motor resister . It controls all 1-4 speeds, also it's under the passanger side dash around fan, the 5th speed runs off a fuse the is located in the fuse box. It's one of those square fuses , not the relays but fuses. The resister will run $15 and fuse $5 . Good luck. I have replace these before

a couple of things,1 blower motor fuse.2 blower motor gone out.3 switch on fan speed control switch not sending signal to fans.after checking the fuses.next check theswitch on control panel.set ac or heater.if fan still doesnt come on then replace it.when it work and then stops working there are a lot of possiblities that caused the prob relay too not fliping over inside staying close loop.hope this helps.

The resistors are in circuit only on the lower fan speed settings.
On the highest speed setting, power is switched directly to the fan motor.
Check fan power supply fuses,
Check power is available to the fan when high speed selected.
If all above OK, apply power directly to the motor to verify fan motor runs- if it doesn't the motor may need replacement/repair.

Sounds like your ballast resistor is out for the blower motor. You said that you only had 1 speed or off when you turned the fan on. The fan's speeds are made possible by a separate resistor installed on the heater box. The dash switch itself will only work at one speed when the resistor isn't functioning; and eventually the switch will burn out too. The resistor is much easier to change out than the blower motor was, and cheaper too. You can find it on the heater core/blower box by the passenger side footwell You can order the resistor for around $25.00 from a Nissan dealer, the switch itself costs about the same, verses around $90 for the blower motor.. It took me all of 20 minutes to change them out in my Nissan. I really hope you kept your receipt for the new blower motor, because it was probably fine. I'm not sure what you mean about the automated seat belt fuse. I know there is a sensor in each seat that causes the seatbelt indicator light to flash until you plug the belt in. There are 2 wiring harnesses, one for the seat that can tell when weight is on the seat, the other one shuts off the dash indicator when you plug the belt clasp in. Good luck...
