Question about 1993 Subaru Legacy

We have a 93 suby legacy wagon. Our drivers side retracting seat belt isn't working - stuck in one position... What do you think it wrong? Do seat belts have lifetime warranty?

It probably rewound with a wrinkle or a twist in it. About all you can do is try give it little short jerks and try to get it to release. Short of that, about all you can do is try taking it apart, straightening it out, or replacing it. There could be dirt, debris, a broken spring, etc. that is causing the problem. And, no. No such thing as a lifetime warrantee.

My drivers chest seat belt went tight and i had to un hook it from the top buckle and it retracted all the way and will not release. this is a 1990 subaru legacy ls wagon

I've had a few vehicles with these autobelts and have been through this. Most manufacturers provide and access panel that will allow you to release the belt manually. Once released some can be reset with precedures as simple as unplugging the battery, waiting 5 to 15 minutes and connecting it back up.

Others your stuck with only being able to leave the connector in the rear IN USE location and having to manually fasten the belt.

If you have an owners manual, it should be listed in the first few pages... Otherwise, if you visit your local library, they will allow you to copy the pages with instructions from their Chiltons or Haynes refference manuals...

Hope this helps

Good Luck and Happy Motoring

91 Camry Seat belt and power winodws on Passenger side Inop

More than likely, you have a broken wire or two between the body and the driver side front door. This is a very common issue with those cars when tey get older.

Subaru legacy 93 retractable seatbelts work then dont work wat is the cause of this?is the tract dirty or something?

Are both right and left sides inop? Check the switches on the door jams. They could be going bad.Make sure they are working. Check the motors that retract the belts.

I have a 1993 Subaru Legacy LSI. Seatbelt question

It has to be jerked just right for them to lock. Foreign cars are real touch when you **** them. American cars pretty much only lock up when you stop quickly and your whole body puts pressure on the belt.

Seatbelt won't retract

1)move the plastic cover over the seat belt out of the way to gain access to the two mounting bolts for the seat belt mechanism. Use a 10mm wrench and a 14mm wrench and remove the two bolts holding the seat belt mechanism to the body. Use a small drill bit or small screwdriver and make one hole in the plastic cover on each side of the seat belt mechanism (the covers say "do not remove plastic cover". Spray lots of wd40 in each hole. Then exercise the seat belt. When the mechanism allows the belt to be retracted, retract the belt all the way out and exercise the seat belt. Reinstall mechanism with both mounting screws in original position and put plastic cover back in place. Good luck. New seat belt costs $100.00 from dealer and are hard to find working in junk yards. I have fixed several of them this way.
