Check Brake fluid level.

When the ABS light is on, the brakes should revert to standard braking.

The only time ABS should invoke is when the tires are slipping as sensed by the wheel speed sensors when the wheel locks up on any of the axles.

There are two basic types of anti-lock systems available for this vehicle; a Rear Wheel Anti-Lock (RWAL) brake system and 4 Wheel Anti-Lock (4WAL) brake system. The 4WAL system has two variations; a 3 sensor system and a 4 sensor system. The 2WD vehicles will be equipped with the 3 sensor system, but the AWD vehicles can be equipped with either. The systems are easily identified by looking at the rear wheels for a sensor harness. If there is a sensor harness and thus, rear wheel sensors, it is the 4 sensor system. If the vehicle is not equipped with a harness, it is the 3 sensor system. The 4 sensor system takes it speed references from each of the wheels. The 3 sensor system takes its speed references from each of the front wheels and the vehicle speed sensor located in the transmission (2WD) or the transfer case (AWD). The RWAL system components consist of the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS), the Electronic Control Unit (ECU), the isolation/dump valve and the Vehicle Speed Sensor Buffer (also known as the Digital Ratio Adapter). The ECU also receives signals from various brake switches. The 4WAL system components consist of the Electro-Hydraulic Control Unit (ECHU) valve (also known as the Brake Pressure Modulator Valve or BPMV), the wheel speed sensors, Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) on 3 sensor systems and the VSS Buffer. I had this problem a while back on my Astro. if you go to your break lines, just puncture a little hole in the line and then bleed them for a while by pumping the break. Then simply replace the break line like normal and you're set to go. Good Luck with it.

Pretty normal to not be able to lock the brakes without the assistance of the booster, it'll take a lot of pedal pressure without it. It's also normal for the pedal to feel harder without the booster, this goes for any car/truck with power brakes. Try it with any other car you have and you'll see.

I've worked on several old Cadis but don't recall what year they started using front disc. If it's been changed from drum to disc you'll likely need a different proportioning valve and possibly a different master to get them to work right. Talk to the seller and ask if the brake feel changed when they replaced the master and if they changed any other parts.

ABS light came on as I was driving home. still had brakes. shut off engine and restarted car. light was still on. How far can I go with this light on?

there really is no problem driving without the abs system. it isnt a part of your normal braking system. what abs is does is when slamminng the brakes, usually at relatively high speeds, it pumps your brakes so that the wheels will not lock up and cause your wheels to skid(ABS Anti-lock Brake System). this pumping also lets you manuver while your car is braking. without the abs system, your car will brake with the normal brakes. if it makes you feel comfortable, many new cars(basic cars) dont come with abs as it is considered an "extra." i would recommend fixing the abs if you have the money, because it can be the difference between hitting a car and not, but if you don't, then just take a little bit more precaution when braking. And if someone tells you to urgently fix it because it causes your car to become unstable, don't listen to them. ABS is a relatively new technology(came out in the 90's if im not mistaken) and cars have been around much longer. previous cars didnt have abs and the world was not thrown into chaos because of it. so like i said, if you have the money, you should fix it, but if money is tight, then its no biggie. like passanger airbags, better to have em, but not necesarry. hope this hleps. goodluck

Abs light off and on front brakes sometimes feels like brakes skip dont want to stop.

Sounds like you ABS system kicking in. This could be caused by a faulty wheel sensor or a cracked sensor ring which will either be mounted on the CV shaft or it will be part of your wheel bearing assembly. Or you actually locked up one of your wheels on wet or slippery pavement, in this case that would be normal.

ABS light and Traction control light stay on. Vehicle brakes ok, but pedal feels "grindy" intermittently when braking

That "grindy" feeling is when the ABS kicks in. It's only suppose to activate when you slam on the brakes and the wheels would normally lock. Instead, ABS will very quickly pump the brakes on and off, to prevent the wheels from locking (making a giant skid mark) and stopping the car more effectively. Generally this only happens if you slam on the brakes or loose traction due to rain or snow while braking. If this is happening often and the brake light is on, on the dash, then you need to get this checked out by a qualified mechanic ASAP.

Console brake light stays on I checked fluid level and it is good. I Pulled parking brake and it is working fine but light does not turn off.

I dont know which brake light is the console light but fluid level needs to be FULL. You might even disconnect the fluid level sensor just to be sure its not lying. Does the brake pedal feel normal? if not, have it looked at. May be the parking brake switch is bad?

My 2001 Buick Century's tail brake lights are not working. The far right one works but the rest dont. I just replaced all the bulbs and reset the fuses, and they still dont work. When I lock and unlock the...

Your brake light switch, which is located on the brake pedal, has malfunctioned. If you replace that your pedals will go back to working. When they go bad one or more brake lights will not work when the brake pedal is pressed but will work all other times. The reason is because the light doesn't "know" that the pedal is being pressed because it isn't getting the signal from the switch. Let me know if you have any further questions. 1998 ford e250 abs light is on

with an abs light on it means the antilock brake system is disabled and therefore your brakes could lock up in an emergency braking situation other than that your brakes will work normally. the antilock brake system works on signals from tone rings and sensors that sense if any wheel is slipping locking up or losing traction, there is also a brake pressure modulator. you should be able to pull the codes for the abs auto parts stores should be able to do this for you with a code reader most will do this for free, this will tell you where the problem is. hope this helps
